Sounds like a sexual harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.

I hope I'm sipping punch on a tropical island before this is all settled. On second thought, I guess if I already had an audio/video recorder inside the truck, I could sell some of the footage and retire to that tropical island. Always a day late and a $ short.

I want a front facing camera be thinking about buying one. People dont see swift on the side they see $$$$. I think a big problem with the driver face camera is that they can't be on the phone anymore. But if you go to any terminal almost every drive pulls in with a headset on doesn't even try to hid it.

My personal opinion for what it is worth. Outside facing cameras, no audio - fine. Anything looking at me or recording what I say or listen to just feels like they are hunting for reasons to discipline people. I'm also not real comfortable with even just audio for those that have a rider with them. I will however wait and see how the testing phase finishes before making any knee jerk reactions to the news.

    Chewey Thanks this.

i could see driver facing ones in mentor vehicles to make sure they are doing the training properly... but not in anything else.

There will be NO lawsuits over a camera facing the driver and the sleeper. Swift and other companies will simply have drivers sign a little from that says they will be monitored by video recording equipment any time they are in the truck. If you don't sign it, you don't have a job. And that's that.

I don't need Swift's cameras. They install those and I'm gone.

I have my own dashcam with two separate cameras - a wide angle and a zoom. If something happens I'll have it saved as it records on a 7 hour loop and it has a shock sensor that will record incidents. I can also manually tag incidents as I see fit or see as important. Don't need Swift to do this for me.
