What a great piece of writing! You should be a professional technical writer my friend instead of being a professional driver!

Although some of the details may have changed, this is very helpful information. Thanks, all of you, for sharing.

SWIFT now pays you for the 2nd and 3rd day of orientations now.

There's some good info in this thread. Like others have said, the first post should be allowed to be edited by the OP.
I forwarded a link to my brother in law who has been with Swift for 2 years. -
Hello!
I am starting training at Swift on July 14, 2014. Is there anyway that I could chose you to be my mentor!?? I am a 31 year old fairly attractive white woman who likes to eat healthy, NOT smoke, and take walks when possible. Please send me a personal message!!

Mentor/trainee assignments are managed by Swift. I don't think you can specify a certain mentor, but I may be wrong. You will be able to state your preferences for a smoker or non-smoker and for male or female, but there are no guarantees. Mostly it is based on available mentors for trainees.
I know in my orientation "graduating class" some new trainees had to wait several days before a mentor was available (and several wanted to go home before heading out on the road). I went to orientation ready, willing, and able to immediately get on the road and so I was the first of my class to start logging drive hours with a mentor. -
Does anyone know about the schooling that Swift offers for training? I start on Monday and the Richmond, VA location and was just wondering if anyone had pointers. Things I should look out for, etc.

Remember that you are on a job interview. Work your butt off and ace all the tests. The interview continues through your mentorship, right until you are issued your own truck.
Use the hotel shuttle to do a grocery run to the Kroger. It's far cheaper than ordering food to be delivered.
And finally, be sure to pass your DMV test on the first try. Steve's very proud of his first time pass rate, and rightfully so. (At least he was when we were there.)
