I was just thinking how I have never actually seen a truck get onto a highway ,I've seen them get off but never on.

Do you just sit on the on ramp for "hours" until theirs a opening or what ?

Same as I do in any other type of vehicle. As soon as I make the turn onto the ramp, I start accelerating to get up to speed. The easiest way to merge is if you are already up to speed. As I'm making my way down the ramp, accelerating as quickly as I can, I glance up the road to try to find a gap. Then, you ease over into that gap. If I need to use the shoulder for a ways as I get up to speed and wait for traffic to clear, so be it, because let's face it, these trucks really don't accelerate too well when fully loaded. The one thing I DON'T do is stop on the friggin' ramp. I don't know where that started, but it is the ABSOLUTE WORST thing you can do...especially in a vehicle that accelerates from 0-60 in 3.5 miles. Hit the top of the ramp as hard as you safely can, accelerate as much as you safely can, look at what is coming and find your gap early, and do your best to blend into traffic.

I do just like the 4wheelers do...As I am approching the bottom the ramp, talking on my cell phone, I look over and expect that driver to move over and let me on. If not I flip them the hello sign.
