Back in the day, as the saying goes, before spring brakes we had to chase our trailers to get under them. All to often the air lines were to short to hook up before trying to get under the trailer. Boy that was fun, once they started rolling you had no choice but to speed up and catch it before it ran into something.
Have a big control problem

Dollars to donuts it was up to him to tell the company if you was ready for more driving. And he said you was to benefit his wallet.
And if the company is lying to you now, during training, what makes you think it's going to change later.TruckerGonnaBe and semi retired semi driver Thank this. -
As crazy as it sounds, I'll bet there's people that don't even know what that switch is for.
I use to not know LOL! I remember a guy telling me to "drop the bags."
I was wandering wth he was talking about?I aint holding no bags?
Any way,it makes hooking,and unhooking a lot easier dropping,and
raising air bags, and less cranking.Who woulda thunk it?"semi" retired and Lepton1 Thank this. -
OPUS 7 Thanks this.

Having valves on both the truck and the trailer really makes it easy.(not dumpvalves but valves that give you full control to raise and lower the suspension to the full extend off the airbags)

Years ago, I had a friend with a spread axle air ride and a little control panel, and going over a scale, he would dump the air in a certain axle and it would change the weight on that axle. That's why you might hear the scale dude on the loudspeaker, "don't dump the air bags".

Ladr... He is a trainer... He's a special kind of trainer.... He's a S.T.T. Super Trucker Trainer
We had a load yesterday that took us both home to wash laundry and shower as long as we team drove hard between. I was willing to since I finally got to go home and be there for a full 10. That is we did. We picked up our load and started out on the road to his place first since we were already in CA.
As we pulled out he got a call we were once again being swapped loads. We now had to pick up a load in Sacramento and haul butt to Portland OR. Picked up at 3pm and had to be here by 8am for the first drop then the second is in Hermiston. Figured at least once we stopped after our last drop I could hit a shower since I haven't been able to get one in 2 days now but no he had to rush us into another load that once again takes us back to his home. I suppose at least there is a freaking crappy shower at that terminal.
I now know why some news drivers never make it past training.
I'm going to call my DM and ask if I can at least practice my backing while I'm stuck in the truck. I hate sitting in the truck waiting then rushing off again without getting any practice of anything in. No point wasting my time twiddling my thumbs while he's at home.
And to top it all off I think I got a hold of some bad food. My stomach hurts, burns, and I'm so nauseous. I'm drinking sprite which seems to help a little but even the thought of food makes me want to puke. Unfortunately, that's what he thinks of mostly. He's talking about stopping for more food. Any one know of something I can take for it?
Finally, I'm next.
Any tips you can give me to help me learn to back better would be greatly appreciated. I have now done a 90 and it wasn't to bad. And this morning I had to do a blind side back to turn around in a parking lot because I was headed the wrong way and the receiver wanted me turned around. I was successful. Small accomplishment but still an accomplishment.
Oh and can someone explain how to read a map right do I can figure out how long a trip will take me? He keeps promising to show me but 2 full weeks are already gone with no signs of slowing down just picking up.
I forgot to add that I don't think it will get better once I'm solo. I think they will dump me in some terminal and leave me there until my phone calls get annoying and they have you dispatch me. They do however pay better than the others I was looking at and had the longer training time which should have been a good thing. I'll willing to put up with what I need to to gain the experience I need to find something better. Who knows I might actually like it enough to stay once I'm away from STT.
Back to hanging on. We're done and he's driving to the next drop. His driving sometimes really scares me especially when he's sleepy and insists on still going.Last edited: Sep 2, 2014

I was just informed by another TWT driver that we could get into trouble if we have an inspection and the inspectors found out that we are not following company procedure for training. Is that true? I don't want to get into trouble for them running me team way before I'm ready and the company says I can be run as a team driver. The company says I'm not even supposed to run at night time until next week but I've been running mostly nights with some days.
