Like I said, there are many company's that pay better than .26 but they have people lining up taking it! All it takes is a little research, if your fine making that little then go for it! I'm a little more about the money that's why I'd never work for a company like swift. It would take 10 years there to make what I'm making now, and yes before I even am at a year experience lol what does that tell you!

I do not understand all this constant bashing from persons outside of Swift (or any company for that matter) about starting pay. The main component of that phrase is "starting". You can't come on here and make a sensible argument about how much more than that you make now when you have several years of experience. You should be making more now with experience and if you weren't that would be the real problem.

Most company's "starting" pay for inexperienced drivers is low. If YOU ran the company WHY would you pay someone brand new the same amount of money as someone with experience? WHY should a brand new to the industry driver make what YOU make with how ever many years of experience you may have? If that was the case people would be on here ######## about how a newbie is making what they make and it's not fair. Every job and industry has "starting" pay which is lower than what people with experience make. Not just trucking and not just Swift.

I recently retired after a little more than 21 years in law enforcement. I am looking into trucking as a second career. My base pay when I retired was almost $30,000 a year MORE than what a rookie starts out at. And there are now 10 pay steps between starting pay and top pay. Used to be 5 and before I was hired all those years ago it was only 3 steps. Each pay step is after each year completed except the first one which was upon completion of a probationary period. Is that fair? Absolutely! Why the hell should a new person with no idea what they are doing just starting out make what I make? They shouldn't.

Then I had a few co-workers that would ##### because they have reached the top of the pay scale as far as steps go and could not get any more raises other than whatever overall percentage raises everyone would get. I never understood that. The top pay cannot be an infinite number. Would I like it if it was, for sure, but that is impracticable and would defy common sense.

There will always be "starting" pay when you "start" a job and there will always be higher pay for experience when you actually have experience. There will also always be "starter" companies. Without them almost no one would be working in the industry if no one hired newly licensed drivers. Everyone starts somewhere and there are very few golden eggs out there.

Oh I just ignore them grated is swift the best trucking company nope. But they are helping people learn a skill and move on to better paying jobs. With in a year I don't know maybe the ones ######## about swift pay wants them on welfare, is the pay a little low yea. But if someone one is willing to work for it meh let them. No one is holding a gun to there head and forcing them to work for swift. Plus with the internet its easier to find out about a trucking company. But its human nature to belittle put down some one or something. I guess it makes them feel better. Oh well it is what it is.

Pay people higher wages, the cost gets passed along to the customer.
What's the point of $20 min wage if a bottled water is $8?

look around you, prices of things keep on going up fast.
I'm 25 and I remember when gas was less than $2 a gallon and Subway had $5 footlongs, not so much anymore.

if there was no minimum wage people would still be getting 5 bucks an hour. The issue is they did not consistantly raise it to match inflation. IN 15 years its gone up .70 cents an hour, in that same time frame gas has gone up over 2.5 dollars a gallon on average just as one item. The problem has happened because Congress has become so alienated from the real world they do not understand that people cannot make a living anymore off minimum wage like they could 25-30 years ago.

Here is another little fact to show how out of touch Congress has been, in the past 15 years they have increased their own pay by over $50,000 per year as cost of living increases (when they have 0 cost of living) and min wage has only gone up 70 cents in the same time frame. Congress is as much to blame for the economy as anyone else because of their LACK of action, now its to the point where making minimum wage a livable wage nearly impossible because of the example you stated.

The other issue is big business, they are able to buy such large amounts of an item they can get it for lower cost making it nearly if not completely impossible for small business to compete with them cost wise. That is why home depot and Lowes have all but eliminated the mom and pop hardware stores where people actually knew what they were talking about.
