There is no perfect job. Some are just better than others. It's what you make out of it.
Wargames and Tonythetruckerdude Thank this. -
Some guys say the "Holy Grail" is driving for Walmart, some say it is Old Dominion, and others say it is UPS. I quit an $80,000 a year non union driving job to take a $70,000 a year union driving job. Why? Because I think it is a better job. rather then pound out 2000-3000 miles a week I am lucky to get 800-1200 a week. I am working A LOT less for a little less money.

I've heard you have to be a Jedi to even be considered at Wal Mart !
JimmyBones and moraramis Thank this. -
A company that will fire you for using a headset is not the holy grail of anything. Also 63 mph trucks, being away from home? Bah, they better be paying way over six figures for me to even consider putting up with that.
-
Is the grail itself holey? In that case I don't think it holds water.

Thats why they got in trouble with tracy morgan wreck the oc that guy operated out was over 500 miles away from his home so after he drove 500 miles then hopped on his truck.

Back when Sam was alive, that may have been a good gig. But you can bet the squeezing Walmart applies to vendors nowadays is also applied to the in-house vendors, i.e., trucking. And trucking under the thumb of a pencil pusher leaves much to be desired.
Chewey, Wargames, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -
