I believe it goes by what state the truck is registered in. Though DOT will go by local rullings most of the time.

In Florida the law on window tint and including any kind of sunshade or visor has always been 6 inches from the top. 30% tint is also the darkest tint allowed. How ever..... Florida typically over looks most tint rules as even state and local police have 10-5% tint. I have had 5% tint on all of my personal vehicles since the late 90's. That doesnt mean they cant hassles you about it. I suggest you always remain cordial with any officer. They tend to be nicer about thing when you dont act ####y.

Exactly! And since over passes are part of "the sky", and people like to throw rocks and pumpkins from "the sky"...you sir are correct....does seem like a hazard.

By the way; are those visors why we see so many cowboys sitting on the floor of their big rig big trucker trucks?

I drive a w900 that has a visor that was installed by the factory. It presents no problem and is legal every where. When I see a truck with a drop visor I always wonder how far back from a traffic signal they will lose sight of the signal. I would estimate so far back that they will run a lot of red lights. The statement about sitting on the floor may be correct but I see a lot a drivers setting on the floor that don't have a visor of any kind. I guess they just enjoy the rougher ride.

Mine is 14" never got static for it. A friend had gotten a couple tickets down in jers, said because his was flat against the windshield glass was what made the difference. Can't speak to whether that'd make a difference. His was 18" ends on 14" center bow tie. Did cover the majority of the glass.

I think the visors that are in question here are the ones that seem to cover about 1/2 of the windshield. When you are coming straight at them you only see a small portion of their windshield. Those are the ones that I question their ability to see overhead object as they approach them. They are probably what the popo don't like.
