I dont think there is a perfect job, And no walmart is not by any means but I would say it has to be in the top 5 driving jobs out there. Its about like any other job comes down to how you approach it and the attitude you have while doing it. I am treated great, drive great equipment, always know when I am going to be home, get plenty of rest and yes make a good paycheck.
There are always going to be the haters from the ones who cant get in and from the ones who got themselves fired for not following procedure. But we will always hear just one side of their story.
Ok done here again for a few months as there is nothing else to say.
Is walmart the holy grail of company driving?

I stand corrected (from my earlier post)...I guess I DO get that "vibe" from atleast one Wal-Mart driver.

Otherwise, the holy grail of company driving remains elusive as a built in toilet, aint happenin' (then we'd all be driving for wall·fart).
Chewey Thanks this. -
Some people just do not have the guts to stand up to a corporation when they break the law. Should I just ignore the actions of Walmart in order to not make waves? Not me. I turn the lights on as bright as possible. FYI, I am still employed by Walmart Transportation.
Of course Walmart knows the labor laws, they just think they do not apply to them. This is how they became the poster child for despicable behavior and are paying out damages for thousands of cases a year. Not many companies are spending hundreds of millions of dollars defending a bribery case like Walmart has.
History has a way of repeating itself. Company rises and falls when it moves away from what created the success. Walmart is not the trendsetter anymore, they are playing catchup with competitors who are taking away business. This is a unbiased opinion on my part.
That may happen sooner than you think. Barring an agreed settlement with Walmart Transportation, this case may take a few years to move through the court system. However, before the end of this year, this case would be filed in Federal court, and the national media will be reporting on this case just like they do with every lawsuit Walmart is hit with. At that point, you will get to hear the other side of the story and the recorded conversations of Walmart Transportation managers who chose to break the law. Just like in the case of you defending your friend Kevin Roper, you will be on the wrong side of this case too. So Grabberblue, are you planning to testify in defense of your friend Kevin Roper? Or do you plan to turn a blind eye to this as well because the heat will be too much to handle?drvrtech77 and Chewey Thank this. -
Its probably the holy grail of OTR. But that is like painting a turd gold.

The only thing Malwart could possibly be the Holy Grail of is Anal Retentivness.....

All true except facial hair...you can have it as long as you want...until some one gets it tangled up in the steering wheel and runs over a bus full of entertainers and we have to have it measured by the DOT physical Doc who recommends a shaving clinic to be outfitted with a CCLIP device to remove facial hair so we can sleep.......I beter shut up, I might be giving someone ideals

Hard to imagine that they are the holy grail when they are being sued by their drivers for non pay. I have a feeling that the end result of the class action will be that WalMart Transportion will be no more and they will outsource the job to the megas.

6,500+ trucks 55,000+ trailers, a deal with peterbuilt for those new arotrucks, total control over procedure and overhead, there not going anywhere. They could take a hit of 500 million and make that back with just a few modifications to there operations. Hell they could with little or no effort start running there trucks aginst swift exc.exc. and put another 3,000 trucks on the road, already have the m/t's just power those buggers up and let em loose -
Well that is alot of equipment I will give you that. How many drivers do they have? Are WalMart stores the biggest customer in North America in terms of T/L's moved? If so, who is second?
