Truck drivers are needed everywhere. TQL called me 3 times this morning to ask me if I have available one more truck. If you want to choose when to work and when to stay home, run your own authority.

On a side note and not to hijack this thread anyone that's dealt with tql can understand why they would need more trucks. Bottom rung broker. -
Or,.. the trucks are sitting with no drivers for a very obvious reason.
I would at least entertain the idea and see what they are about. Ask the right questions and learn to read between the lines. If I even suspected I was being lied to, I would then run.
I'm not sure, I think the O/O I'm running for has a truck sitting. He would be paying as a 1099 with no bennies either. But I know the money would be good. Never had an issue there. I'll call in the morning and see if that truck is still sitting. Oh,.. he's based out of Willowbrook. I live in Florida and I never had a problem getting home when ever I wanted to be home. Be it 2 weeks, 3 weeks or 6,.. it never mattered.
Hurstdogtrucker Thanks this. -

I personally don't drink much. Maybe one or two a year, all by choice. I'm glad to see u know u messed up. Most guys would blame their companies. Maybe Western Express or USA Truck. Good Luck on the search.

I don't run on a 1099 I get taxed like everyone else. I have no benefits nor do I want them. I self fund my retirement account and have all of my medical benefits through my wife's work. I'm interested In making as much money as possible and this is a great way to do it.

As a 1099 the company saves a good chunk of money. In doing so as a driver, I would expect to be paid more than a driver who was taxed normally. To me there has to be some kind of trade off to make it worth while.
If your in a position where you cant get hired through the regular channels, then sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Some places will take advantage of guys in that kind of position. Dont get caught up like that. I went through hell and back with a tyant O/O who did just that. This guy wanted you to screw up so he could keep you under his thumb, dock your pay and get you to work for 1/2 what you should be making, but with a wreck or damages on your record,.. even minor, who would hire you? He knew that. After 12 months of that BS, I think I was the only driver who skated through his gauntlet unscathed. I came out smelling like a rose after I quit,.. the drama was thick, the threats I received were priceless. I LOL'd all the way home.
Edit:
Man I look back at how humble I was. I was in a bad way financially. I look back at what I went through to get where I am now. I am so grateful and thankful that I dont have to be that way anymore. I feel bad for guys that get stuck with BS hanging over their heads. Mine was just lack of recent experience. I had almost 8 years of perfect driving with a 15 yr absence. 3 years 'recent'? Its not like you forget how to walk or talk? Its like riding a bicycle,.. I havent been on a bicycle in 5 or 6 yrs and even then it was my kids bike. I dont think I have forgotten how to ride. I mean its the most ridiculous thing. They'll hire a kid with less than 30 hours of actual seat time over someone with 7 yrs of real seat time, because he quit driving for a few years. And because of that,.. is why I went through hell and back. I'd like to find the insurance guy or regulator who made that rule and choke him unconscious.
So OP,.. I feel for you brother. I really do. Check with the company they mentioned. If it doesnt feel right, be careful. Dont sign any contracts that you dont feel comfortable with. I'll give my guy a call in the morning and see what he has. No promises, but I'll post here and let you know.
