Why not just strap it to the front. I saw a truck the other day with what I would call a bush guard, just like what Prime trucks have. He had a mountain bike strapped to it on the front. Just gotta make sure you don't forget it's there and you don't crush it or some wing nut backs into you, then it's history.
How to carry a bicycle on your truck?

Bugs, road film, sand getting into the shifters, sandblasting the finish....you'd spend an hour cleaning before every ride.
Carrying a bicycle outside of a truck, uncovered, would destroy it in months. -
That's why I asked about mounting some sort of rack on the rear of the cab so the bike can securely hang while being covered in a weather covering similar to: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001PTDQOC...e=df0&creative=395109&creativeASIN=B001PTDQOC -
One could probably make a bag from a Blue Tarp. "Sew" it with zap straps and seal the edges with duct or hurricane tape, then turn it inside out.
Make it like a dry bag- load the bike from the top and roll the top down to seal it.BlackThought Thanks this. -

If I make it thru CDL school to where I'm driving solo OTR, I'll definately take my bike if possible, and join the facebook group to share bike routes. I'm an avid road bike rider because I like to ride as fast as possible with reckless abandon all the time. The only laws I obey are my own...don't interfere with anyone's right of way and don't put anyone else in danger. Other than that anything goes, so I imagine some 4 wheelers think I'm a jerk the way I ride around Miami, not stopping at red lights if it's clear, splitting lanes, etc. It's fun as hell lol. Would a road bike be good as a truck bike, or are most of the trails not paved?

Keep it inside the sleeper so it stays clean. If you have a top bunk, put it there. If not, take the front wheel off and strap it to the bulkhead/wall.
cuzzin it Thanks this. -
Keep it inside, you'll kill it behind the sleeper. If you have to get a bike bag such as Nashbar $45 on Amazon.
i have a Montague Paratrooper that folds and front wheel and seat sit in front of seat and bike is seatbelted on Pass seat. Other options are top bunk , hanging/strapped against back wall or roof. Some people will take off front wheel and stick front forkover to of the seat with back wheel of floor in front...(get a chain cover) -
I had a bike for many years "folding bike" kept it inside, if you leave the bike outside the elements will simply destroy it.
