I've searched and researched quite a lot, both here and elsewhere, and can't find much on this. Lot's of info for new drivers, and o/o's, but not much info for experienced company drivers.

Currently I make 45.5/mile in Schneider Bulk, which would be pretty good if I could get the miles. I stay out 3 months at a time, never complain about loads or destinations (I happen to like Cali and NYC. Weird, huh!), and my average for the past 12 months is only 2046 miles/week. Staying out doesn't get me any more miles at Big Orange. I end up sitting around 1 or 2 days at the truck stop or tank wash most every load. Mostly waiting to unload, sometimes waiting for a load or clean trailer. Regional and otr guys I've talked to get about the same, except for the guys who go home twice a month, they get fewer miles.

Ultimate goal is o/o (own outright, not lease purchase) otr flatbed 24 months from now. I've got lots of good info for that.

Meanwhile, I'm looking for the money as experienced company skateboard driver for two more years. Less per mile is fine if the miles are there. Prefer all 48, but would certainly do regional (any region) if the money is there. Yearly lease/lease purchase for two years might work if it's legit, but I've heard an awful lot of horror stories.

I know that many of you have good info, maybe nobody has asked? Thanks for any help!

Wow, good pay and poor miles. Sound's like Heartland.

TMC, System transport, Central Oregon truck company, Maverick, Melton.

If lease, heard good things from flat yankers here at Prime, seems 95% of flats here are lease & happy...reefer on lease side is another story.

ATS is another biggie in the lease section, buddy of mine is in lease van side & happy.

Poly pays in the mid 40's cpm. Another guy on here has a good thread on them if you wanna check that out. Be interesting to watch this thread. Im not aware of any companies that pay more than 40 something cpm. Good luck!

Forgot to mention, quite a few companies list pay as a percentage, as in, our drivers make 70% of line haul. As far as I can tell, this actually doesn't tell us anything. Companies make misleading pay claims online all the time. My company claims in their ads that top company drivers can make "over $80,000." I don't see how that's even possible. I work here, I know all the pay rates.

One driver I know (this thread was his idea) makes 80% of "line haul" flatbedding as a company driver for a smaller company. He has found out that they make their bread and butter on lowball freight, whatever that means. He can't get a straight answer on 80% of what, exactly. It sure isn't line haul, whatever that even means. His per mile rate averages 38 cents, he says, at around 2000 miles/week, with low stop pay and low ($25) tarp pay. Some kinda funny business goin on there, I'd say!

Mid 40's is great, if the miles are there. That's the problem!

Builders Transport out of Tennessee is advertising they start experienced drivers at 50 cpm, they also pay percentage if you decide to go that route. I have read good things about them.

Perhaps the .38cpm is what he gets to pay himself after all expenses....because there is no way in hell anybody is stupid enough to book freight at .475cpm (making his 80% .38cpm). And tarp pay should be 100% his if it is his own equipment (that's usually anywhere between $60.00 & $120.00 depending on the shipper). And he should be getting 100% of the Fuel Surcharge.
    Yah; something isn't right.

Try trinity Logistic Group or TLG. They are the in house carrier for trinity industries. I think 2 years experience puts you around .47 cpm. They get raises and are finally getting new trucks. If you work hard and like to do any possible task a truck can do you can do good there. Google them they are based in Dallas and a couple of other terminals. If you want phone number for a couple of current drivers PM me. I don't work there.
