  1. uploadfromtaptalk1410805601051.jpg so the kid wanted to see really how long the blades are compared to my roller skate. uploadfromtaptalk1410805665806.jpg he was very shocked being up close to a blade. Since he sees them a lot spinning in the distance.

    If it's loose?

You wouldn't even be able to load at any of the docks around here if you didn't chain it...

It's coated. Your not allowed too lol just as others are saying on here. The stuff you pick up at the docks is bare. So yes you can chain that

Then your obviously not loading coated line pipe. Anyplace that manufactures line pipe will run you off in the blink of an eye if you pull out chains.

    Regular hook ends.

After about 200 miles they start to 'shine' where they touch the pipe. No visible damage,.. but if looking closely the marks are there. Removing the chain and running your fingers over the marks, there is no distinguishable damage and if you close your eyes, you can not tell the marks are there. But I'd like to remove any questionable doubt about my methods by removing any 'evidence' to eliminate the inevitable,.. need to get so and so to look at this.

I often dont remove the chains until I reach my destination. Most of the time they look and its not a concern. But 2 or 3 times I was chastised over my use of the safety chains. Given the typical, "We have hundreds of guys safely delivering pipe with out the need" or the multitude of other blind reasons. I will continue to haul pipe as I have been. I just dont like apologizing for something that should not be taken for granted because nothing tragic happened.

There really isnt room for anything inside the hooks where they slide onto the pipe. I'm thinking I may try some CRC or something similar the next time I haul it. That may eliminate the marks. I dont haul it often enough to rule everything out, but I am not beyond trying to remedy any reason for them to question my methods.
