You are clueless. I'm not even going to attempt to correct all your misconceptions. Just do a search on concealed carry and repriocity. Remember the saying "It's better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt." Your inclination will be to call me names and tell me what a fool I am, but please, do a little research, then come back and tell us what you found.

 

I carry a 4-type lugnut wrench in the rear of my car that I bought from Walmart. As I used to deliver pizza, I carried a mini maglite on my belt at all times. The police never questioned me or ever attempted to give me a ticket. My vehicle is still under commercial insurance and I do not hesitate to throw a crow bar in the mix when I go into dangerous areas.

Absolutely - and you were/are familiar with the areas you delivered to. Obviously, bone-breakers are all that is generally needed there. It's probably more than is needed most places, too. But the operative word there is "most".

I'm 6'6", 300 pounds - and I fight dirty. Remember, there is only ONE rule in a fight: Survive. That means "take what ever steps you need to in order to continue inhaling and exhaling". In some situations, that means run like Jesse Owens. In others, it means 'break his arm', or kick him where it counts. In rare occasions, it means 'shoot first'.

It's best to have as many options available as possible - you never know when you might need that crowbar.

 

What are you even trying to talk about? I'm in a state that has very strong gun laws, and still I own hand Guns. I've been into Federal Instillations. I know what the signs say and I've seen how they look for weapons. Don't play with them, they don't have a sense of humour. I've made several attempts to go through the convoluted legal carry laws. I've investigated all the legal ways that as a non-law enforcement civilian that I could possibly possess class 3 automatic firearms. And have seen what it would take to obtain a Gun Dealer license so I could buy wholesale.. I know my firearms law. I have no intention of calling you names. Contradict what I've said and I will consider it and investigate. Once you give me the idiocy of your beliefs, I'll be glad to shoot holes in them. Don't ever think me stoopid. Yea challenge what I know. I will sink you with my knowledge.

 

Maryland is a tough state for guns. They don't honor my NC permit and last I checked didn't have their own CCW yet. It was in process but some in office intensionally dragging their feet with it. CCW will come there sooner or later if it's not there already. I have not checked on it lately.

Currently, there are 30 other states that do honor my NC permit and NC honors their's as well. There will be more states in reciprocity with NC added next year. I hope Maryland becomes one.

 

Flare gun is legal.

However, I'm not sure I would want to try and use it for self defense. A firey pin ball bouncing off of things doesn't sound like very much fun to me. Pointing a flare gun at a would be attacker equipped with any firearm could cause them to shoot you for sure.

As a resident of Indiana with a carry permit I can carry a firearm from michigan to florida without any problems. Now ask me to go to illinios or ohio and I will flat out say "are you crazy" as they do not recognize Indiana's pistol permit. You can carry a firearm across state lines if the state you are crossing into recognizes your carry permit. Now I do not know if you can do this in a comercial vehicle as my company does not allow it so there is no reason for me to investigate it any futher.

This has been addressed, now, any number of times.

There is no federal law banning firearms in a CMV. None. Not one. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

If your CCW is honored in the state in which you are carrying, it is perfectly legal to have your firearm in the cab with you. If not honored, you have to 'make it safe' - which usually involved separating the weapon and the ammo into two distinct and relatively distant (from each other) locations.

If the state in which you are carrying issues a CCW, you can obtain one there, as well as in your home state (except Colorado, which requires that you be a Colorado resident before they'll issue a CCW). There is no limit on the number of CCW permits you can carry

Yes, there are local restrictions - such as 100 feet from a school, or government installations. Those apply to *everybody*, not just Tommy Trucker. It is most certainly not a prohibition on having said firearm in the truck in the first place.

I've never been on a military installation where civilian weapons were banned - but there's a lot of installations I've never been to. On the face of it, though, it seems a little... um... far fetched. A base with 10,000 well armed 20-somethings is going to worry about 1 - or even 50 - civilians with handguns?

Now, Federal courthouses, yeah - just like about any other government building - weapons are banned. When was the last time of us delivered to a courtroom?

This site is the only place I have ever discussed this subject with other truckers other than law enforcement or my DOT auditor last October.

When I am concealed on the road I am completely concealed. For someone just getting to this site, like has been written in here already. I'm not advocating you break any company policies of your employer. I own my truck and run under my own authority.

As far as shippers and receivers not allowing guns on premises. This is only a "legal" issue if they have a sign posted at the truck entrance stating such. Even then only law abiding citizens which they have nothing to worry about will obey such signs. A criminal isn't going to care about those sign and smuggle what ever they want inside anyway.

Same goes for restaurants and stores with no gun signs. That is a foolish move by that establishment owners. What this means is the only people in the place with concealed weapons are mostly criminals who they do need to worry about.

I have heard people say only law enforcement should act in an active shooter situation. I guarantee you if I'm somewhere with my wife and 4 children and some fool decides to start shooting up the place. I am not concerned with who stops him with their weapon, I just want them stopped asap. If police just happen to be there and stop them, thank you officer. If a CCW holder happens to be there and stops them, thank you responsible civilian!

Some don't realize how much training a lot of us CCW holders do with our handguns. I shoot often to stay as sharp and safe with the weapon as possible and study tactics for possible encounters. We no longer live in Mayberry. A lot of police are fine gunmen and women. A friend that is a state trooper and his wife a police officer compete in gun sports. They will tell you, some police only shoot the required 50 round minimum per year to stay qualified putting holes in pieces of paper while squared off. LOTS of CCW holders are better and safer handling a handgun than those police are. These are proven facts.
