Everytime I get a Hyundai trailer I can never get the landing gear into high gear, except when I almost have it raised or lowered and I accidentally knock it in somehow. I try pushing it in over and over but I always end up having to raise or lower it in low gear and it makes drop and hooks much more time consuming than they should be. Am I missing something here?
Is there a trick to the Hyundai landing gear?

Are you using an Elantra handle or a Sonata handle? LOL just kidding. I can't say that I've seen a lot of consistency so maybe high gear is in the out position and low gear is the inner position. Sometimes I just have to try them both to figure out which is which.

You have to pull those out to get it in high gear. And it's a pain in the ### to get it to pull out and stay out. I think the new Great Danes have to pull out as well. Pushing in is low gear, while on the Wabash trailers it's opposite (in high, out low). Just keep yanking on it outward until it pops out, and don't push it back in because it goes back in easy LOL. Not sure if there is an easier trick to it because I haven't figured one out yet.

that's the deal.....you gotta pull them out, then hold on to the thingy to get your handle right.

Thanks guys, I mistakenly assumed that pushing in for high gear was universal. This should make my trip-planning accuracy on drop-and-hooks more consistant, haha.

im going to have to disagree. disaptchers are a PITA, customers/shippers will waste your dsy loading/unloading. and you will never find a empty trailer

These POS Hyundai trailers all need to be pushed into a ditch and run over with a bulldozer. Only when they rot and decompose back into fossil fuel that I can burn in my engine will they serve a useful purpose.
The trick for those landing gear is to pull them out in high gear, hold the shaft with a glove to keep it from getting pushed back into low gear, then wiggle the handle to get the handle locked in. Its a PITA and many are messed up or bent making it frustrating. Just gotta fight with them sometimes though.PHX and stevep1977 Thank this. -
Actually since I retired in 2001 one of my numerous part jobs had some pretty good dispatchers, that was about the only redeeming quality of that company. Even when I was hauling cars for twenty five years the Union Brother dispatchers there were a PIA. If someone didn't know they were Brothers you sure couldn't tell by their actions. Like I said nothing is universal except that maybe when push comes to shove the DRIVER will get the short end of the stick.
