Dang. That sensor controlled idling is pretty much a dealbreaker for me.

    Thanks for the info!

Easy fix. I jammed the throttle to 1000 rpms and it never would shut off.

I've found that I'm comfortable sleeping because when it's HOT outside the truck does idle, but when it's below the 71 idle point, I just open the windows in the back and run my fan. My truck is idling now because it's 91 degrees outside near Grand Junction, CO, but even last night in Barstow, CA, I idled the truck until around 1am, then I shut itn down because it was cool enough to sleep with out the air conditioning on. The APU thing can be a pain in the ### when it's breaks and your truck is in the shop for it and you aren't rolling down the road making money. I talked to a friend in management at Roehl and they quit doing the APU thing a few years ago because they were a money pit keeping them working. If I buy another truck (which I'm considering doing again because freight rates are finally going up a bit from where they crashed to in 2009), I will have an APU installed because it's worth the gamble that it stays working for an O/O because of fuel savings, but for the big companies, I guess they did the math and with so many units, it's cheaper for them to let us idle under certain conditions than the maintenance up keep for an APU.

The odd part is that APU's are fairly easy to maintain. Add oil when needed and run a regeneration every 3-4 days to clean the DPF filter. I do know that I love the comfort level of having one on truck and will be purchasing one by spring.

Finished the 3.5 day Orientation in Dallas today; launch with my first load on Saturday; probably mostly Dallas to Kansas City with my 4 days on, 4 days off schedule; call me a hobby trucker, lol! Interstate appears to be a really good company; looking forward to meeting other drivers along the way.

Really? What kind of mileage figure do they give for the 4 on 4 off? They still doing the 5 state regional for mo,IL, ks,co and ia? I would be happy with weekends home.

Belinda is my dispatcher out of Dallas. We get along and she treats me well. I have no problems with IDC. :biggrin_25526:

I started there last year around this time but had a death in the family and it got a little crazy with my emotions. I was told I could reapply this time, this year. So I just did. Mainly curious if ill still get home weekends in mo. Heard they got the KC yard, so the 5 state guys could get regular freight and home time.

That is kind of an unusual schedule. I'm supposed to be "Central", but I haven't been East of Denver since January. I do live in Denver, so I guess all the freight is just West of home.

If you ask to get home weekly, you shouldn't have a problem doing that. I usually get home Saturday morning and leave on Monday before noon.
