People, it makes absolutely no difference how much we think a job is worth, how much it should pay, what it pays in relation to other jobs,or any other measuring stick you want to use.
It all comes down to 'SUPPLY AND DEMAND'. So long as drivers will turn the steering wheel for 30 cpm ( or whatever ), these companies are not going to pay more. Employers do not really care how much they pay for any job, as long as it is the best value, and everyone pays about the same, nobody gets it done cheaper. The amount does not matter, if it is the best deal available.
Supply and demand runs every business, and if there is a supply of low wage drivers, there is no need for a company to pay more.
i am making over 2 times more than i have ever made in my life...

You can complain about "Generation X" and their lack of morals, conviction and self entitlement, but no one likes to consider who raised this generation. For Christ's sake, you gave us participation trophies, lol!!! It's not a nationwide birth defect, lol. Just doing the best we can with the scraps we've had tossed to us in this society.
A little off topic, but thanks for appreciating that the work force is not nearly the same as people with experience on here remember. -
i really dont care the 70's and 80's I lived large and worth every penny
oh wait i might take back the night i threw the doubling cube on a game of backgammon when it was already at $5000Big Don, Skydivedavec, SheepDog and 1 other person Thank this. -
I agree but if companies were required to pay that much especially the mega's I think they would probably close up shop.

What is usually missing is value to society. Seems sometimes that the more value a job has, the less it pays. Without trucking, America stops. May be a cliche to a degree, but it is still true. It to some degree doesn't matter exactly what we actually do or don't do. Our pay should in some way be tied to our value to society. But I know that's a dream that will never happen. If true VALUE to society were figured into it, school teachers, police, firefighters and many other jobs would make a heck of a lot more, and pro athletes, actors, singers and politicians would make a lot less.

With the Gov. and big business sucking the life out of America. Unfortunately the little guy is the brunt of the joke. However there will be time when it will comes back on them as well -
