nope, you are correct. still one of the best jobs out there, excellent bennies for NO money, paid for ALL your time, plus, your sleeper cab comes with a shower, tv, sink, and sometimes free food....

they are only contributing 25% until 2019. it will get you vested, but not much else. it also depends where your at, as i pay into ny pension fund, not central states. chicago has their own funds too....

either way, its a very high paying job, compared to most.....

    So who pays the most?

Holland, ABF, Saia, Old Dominion, YRC or Fedex.. etc?

I ran LTL and loved it...it paid more because of stop and piece pay...I got paid for each stop and every piece that came off truck whether I touched it or not...Avg'd $1500/wk, home every weekend and sometimes during week...This was with Watkins Shepard out of their Richmond, KY terminal...Also avg'd 10-15 stops a day which I would recommend to any newbs...LTL is best way to gain the real skills you need...If you hit 10-15 docks a day, some built for horse and buggies, you'll be super backer in no time...Hitting 1 dock every couple of days when OTR will take much longer to gain same proficiency...When I started I would look at some docks and go "NO WAY!", after doing it a while all I asked, "has someone else been there?" If so, NO worries ever, if someone else could, so could I!...

That's kinda hard to answer. We're paid different ways. I would have to guess ABF. Even though our mileage and hourly may be lower then OD and FedEx, we also have our health and pension paid 100% by the company.

Guess it depends if you want a job for as much as cash up front, or a career you plan to stay at a long time.

if you want the most money, go with abf, ups freight, or holland. other companies may offer more cpm, but then you get no pay other than driving. plus if its a slow day at a union shop, you at least get your daily 8 hour minimum. that doesnt happen at non union barns. beware of any company that doesnt start paying you immediately when you are called in to work, go on breakdown, or drop and hook or build and break sets.
