The point LBZ made was the most important IMO. People don't realize how little freight is travelling west to east. Not to mention the horrible rates that are paid on those moves. Carriers heading west are charging more to make up for the money they are losing when heading east.
If I were a betting man, I'd say you are going to have issues with the company quoting you $1,700. DC is a tough pickup location if you are going to the pacific northwest. I just paid $2,200 to move a Range Rover on an open truck.
I'm a broker btw.
Feel free to begin the broker bashingDorsey, h2oskibumz, SHO-TYME and 1 other person Thank this. -
Nothing to be bashed for if your doing your job, and not robbing the carriers and driving rates into the dirt! Which I hope you aren't -,-

I can't believe I missed all this fun!
And for the idjits: With the price of new vehicles, most of the loads of new Fords I deal with everyday are valued at $300k or more.
And one other thought related to the non-carhaul commenters: No wonder trucking is all ###### up! -
Wuz up with the Hammer, BTW - you coming back after wing repairs ? Or what ? -
*shrugs*
Helping the guys load and strap is good therapy for the wing... it's not like you'd know I had any issues if you saw me, I know I'm not 100% yet, but it's fully functional with more range than I had before I trashed it, and the overhead strength is rapidly coming back. So I could get in the truck if I had to, but I ain't there yet!SHO-TYME and Speedloader Thank this. -
PM me your number I might just need it. -
Show me a carrier that can legally transport 7 Suburbans, not many around, especially in Washington DC and out east where it is 13'6" instead ov 14 feet like it is out west. Seen a Fleet car once with 5 on it in Florida.
