I remember as a kid my uncle Frankie always being away, he worked on an ocean going container ship and was gone 6 months at a time. He always said that his job allowed him and my aunt to have a happy medium.

Hometime will not be an issue for you, 2-3 days every other week. Your biggest concern will be stretching your 70 hours out and not run out after 6.5 days.UTurn1 Thanks this.

Are you in a Volvo? My first truck here was a Volvo and for some reason my cb fried, but then again it was over 15 years old. Ended up having to pick up a new one. Just be an HOS nazi cuz they will run you out of hours going out west and back. The load planners don't really understand how to trip plan and will tell you the computer says it takes such and such time. One of our old load planners that is no longer there set me up with a load from NJ back to Richmond. When I told him I couldn't make it he told me I had 9 hours when he dispatched it. Had to explain to his inexperienced butt that running down the NJ Tpk the speeds change b/c of construction and that run would put me on 495 smack in the middle of rush hour.

Where in central PA? We run Mt Top all the time, so if you are near there you are golden. The standard 2 weeks out 2 days off.

Stopped an hour shorter than I wanted to. Stopped at the TA in Commerce, GA. Didn't really want to stay down in Atl. Have 8 left on my clock and only pick up 5 1/2 tomorrow and 5 Sun so I should be able to make Laredo or close to it Sun night. Should be good to make it back Thur with picking up about 8 each day and then 10 1/2 Thur.
