I have another question. On the drive4walmart site do you have to sign up on the site before you can put in a app? I can't find the app on there at all. I have found where they are hiring out of my area but that's it
    thanks

Can't hurt to try. You don't want to be asking yourself 'what if' for the rest of your life, do you? Nice thing about this hiring seminar (never ever thought I'd see that) is you'll be able to explain your situation in person, whereas on an application there isn't any opportunity to do so. This is a great job! You won't touch anything except landing hear handle, steering wheel, hear shift...you get the idea. You will have to do one hand-load and one unload per week...putting your stuff in the truck and taking it out at the end of your week. The most physical part of this job is going to depend how much food you put on your plate when they have a cookout or buffet. So go for it, nothing to lose and the ad said you could even road test the same day. Took most of us new (year or so) guys about 3+ months to get on, used to take even longer, but they can't find qualified drivers (perfect records) so I guess they're gonna try the 'run of the mill' approach, which may turn out very well for you! Good luck and let us know how it went and what it was like. I'm sure we're all very curious about this latest hiring method.

Yeah I thought getting to meet them in person I could explain the job situation. It's all about income. If I couldn't make my mortgage payment it was time to move on. After reading your comment I think I will just stop filling out this online app so I can do it in person
i will let you know how it goes

You need to wait for a posting, and you can only apply to a location that HAS a posting. As you probably know from reading, you can transfer after a year (as long as there is an opening where you want to go). The system won't even let you (unless they changed it recently) apply unless there is an actual opening at a DC and then you can apply where there is an opening.

You can apply at another d.c. and you mght want too... just to get on with one of the best companies out there. Going on my 3rd week now..... first on my own....yeah...lol... and I can see what everyone is talking about. Glad I did apply even know I live 750 miles away. Will be hard at first with the family thing but will all be worth it in the long run.

Well, I've waited a long time for this, went over this thread from top to bottom, had all kinds of emotions, envy, jealousy and the like. But, now I can say, Walmart, here I come!!!!! I got the call Monday and the letter confirming orientation on the 20th of October. It goes with out saying to the major contributors to this thread, drozzer69, NYVET, and the countless other Walmart drivers, I couldn't have made it through without the information you guys brought here. I've waited 20 years to join the private fleet, having first applied in 1994. In the spring of 1998, I told my wife I was going to apply to Walmart once more. If I didn't here anything back, I was going to by a truck and become an owner operator. May of that year, hadn't heard anything, go buy the truck, bring it home, in the yard, everybody's proud, daughter walks out the door and says "dad, some lady from Walmart called you." I said, "I don't have anything in layaway at Walmart." She says, "she said something about a job."!! My wife said it just wasn't my time. So, 16 years later, I guess it is my time!! Thanks again to everybody who contributed here. I hope to come back and contribute from the other side and pay it forward to anybody that wants to work for, in my humble opinion, the best trucking job in the country!!!

I've never had a job that I didn't dread starting the week at until Walmart. Congrats and welcome aboard. You'll hear negative comments from 'old timers' about how good it 'used to be'...but they're still there! Definitely the best job I'VE ever had! You're gonna love it here.
