If a person is desperate enough, 24 cents a mile can seem like manna from heaven. You really cannot blame the person for taking the job. It is better than no job at all.

Decker Truck Line pays well and real nice equipment.
    Same with Halvor Lines.

It's difficult to recommend any company unless you let us know your location.

"what is the best company for me....geee" i dunno, let me get out my crystal ball, and see where you are from, your genuine experience - dry, flat, reeefer, age, body type, any physical concerns, what kind of work you want to do, .... aw dangit my crystal ball is broken... it keeps suggesting burger king instead of mc donald's for ya.

give a little background and who knows how much help just maybe out there.

i'm just gonna drop this gem in here just in case. http://www.thetruckersreport.com/tr...new-drivers/258185-drug-testing-trucking.html

Werner has hundreds of accounts... most of the dedicated accou ts start at .34cpm and up.. and with the accessorie pay, such as drop pay, safety pay, and account specific pay a effecient safe driver should average .45cpm or better

Why someone would choose to be on a low paying account then complain about pay is beyond my comprehension. .

I have never had any problem getting my truck in the shop and fixed.. in fact, since werner makes all driver bring their trucks in every 60 days for inspection.. there are always drivers complaing that werner has to fix every little thing on the truck...

Now, often when drivers say they couldn't get home time or their truck in the shop.. it often is a case of not sending the right macros...

Anyone else find it funny how many people ask what the best company is? I like my job but other people at my company think I am crazy for doing multi drop dry loads. I do the same run often and like the customers. I have the same dispatcher out and back and get along well with him. I am also home on weekends 90% of the time. But have to work my tail off when I am gone, tight schedules so always moving. One mans perfect job is another's hell.

Is there still plenty of SOLO OTR driving to all 48 states and Canada?

I think it is GREAT that the trucks get called in every 60 days for inspection. There is less chance for breakdowns or inspection failures at the weigh stations.

There are many solo 48 and Canada accounts... but, honestly, the solo OTR 48 gigs are not the best or easies for many new drivers, although I have spoken with several experienced drivers who do well and like it...

I never did the 48 gig... but from what I have learned with the 48 state gigs, the teams get great runs and miles, then the trainers with students, then the efficient experienced solo drivers... and so on down tne line.... if you know how to trip plan , use your HOS effectively, meaning dont run your 70 out and need resets... can communicate with your fleet manager and keep your truck maintenance up without a lot of avoidable roadside service calls. Then you can do well solo 48...

There a couple of really good Canada gigs too... I talked to only a couple drivers on those gigs... they really liked them... there was one that didnt, but, he didnt always have his paperwork right and had struggles getting back and forth across the border. ... seemed more on his part... he did lack organization skills... lost things all the time.. lime his medical card, his license a couple times...
