Check into a company UZ Trans out of MO. They might make you wait until you get a year in. I believe they do some NE loads but not sure how much of it is NE. If it were me, id stay where im at until my full year is in. I would then apply to South East Carriers and see if they accept me. As for USX, doing solo you would be relaying loads to teams as they are mainly a Team oriented carrier.

I though usx got shut down by dot a few months ago
-
- For the current OTR payscale, checkout www.usxjobs.com/newpay
- I generally get around 3000 miles per week as a trainer during the solo phase or when I'm on my own.
- I think we've gotten rid of most of the 2011s and older, so 2012 or newer at this point. The 2014s and newer are auto shift.
- No APUs. Idle over 70 or under 28. Bunk Heater.
- They have a few coffin boxes left, but most are full sized Cascadias. Some of the newer Petes are mid-roof.
- Governed at 65.
- Solo is mostly TX and east. Lots of North East.
- No quarterly bonus program and the payscale above shows the raises.
- EZ Pass, Prepass, KS Turnpike, OK Turnpike, FL Turnpike and some trucks have CA Fast pass.
- I think Breakdown is 50 per 24 hour period, I've never dealt with Layover. Detention is 12.50/hr after 3 hours, have to have in-out times on bills and send in a Macro to get it. They will pay it if everything is satisfied.
- 1 Rider at least 10 years old, have to pay for insurance. 1 cat or dog allowed, have to pay pet deposit (I think 50/period until 250).
- I generally do not sit except when I get a store delivery to one of our major customers. We have a ton of drop yards, and I always ask if I can drop if I can get there early and would have to sit for a day; they usually allow me to.
- I think we have a fleet of around 7000.
- Most of the terminals are decent with laundry, vending, showers, plenty of parking. Ellenwood, GA; Tunnel Hill, GA; Olive Branch, MS; Shippensburg, PA; Colton, CA; Springfield, OH; Markham, CA; Irving, TX; Laredo, TX. We just took over some Arnold terminals in the south east, but I don't know where they are. We can also use any Arnold, USX Global, Total of MS and Abeline terminals for parking. Some of our drop yards allow parking as well, such as Stockton, CA. Showers are cleaned once or twice per day depending on the terminal, bring your own towel. I'm not terribly fond of terminal showers so I avoid them. Repairs can be hit or miss with how quickly they get things resolved, even at the same terminal.
irishlad and Hard Worker Thank this. -
us xpress is a good compy to start with but u r just a number truck number, driver number not personal
Hard Worker Thanks this. -
I can answer some of your questions Hard Worker but not all since we team.
1. Most of their trucks are Cascadias. Solo drivers get the older ones. Those trucks are very roomy.
2. None of the trucks have APUs. The company lets you idle the truck when its aboce 70 and below 28. The trucks have bunk heaters that work really well.
3. Truck top speed limit is 65 mph
4. Teams mainly go to the west coast. Solo drivers mainly stay on the east coast. Get a good dedicated account to get good runs.
5. US Xpress terminals are not that great. Most of them have scary showers.irishlad and Hard Worker Thank this. -
