    I'm in my late 30's, so that wont be a problem...I would just want that shot within a year or I would rather just get the experience somewhere else as a driver and then apply.

    It's a long process, If you are in dire need of income do what you have to do. ABF will still be their. But, when they call get you in the motions, Would not pass it up and take a good look at the company.

    Don't forget you need all endorsements for the "mega" LTL's, Minus passenger.


    Clarify: ABF is not the holliest graille of LTL. It's not worst either, my opinion wouldn't snub the chance.

    I'm not in dire need of income, but I could use a paycheck LOL :) Seeing as I don't know if ABF will ever call...I may just have to start out OTR w/SWIFT, Knight, etc.

    Do what you have to do to get a CDL. OTR companies might want a 1 year long contract, Keep your nose clean LTL is still their. Flip side, first LTL throws bait go for it lol

    If you have a CDL and all endorsements hazmat tanker doubles they will hire you as long as there is openings. No previous exp.

    I just wanted to throw this out there...I've worked construction the last several years and during a lay off (one of many), I worked at UPS. This is when I first thought...this looks like a GREAT Job!! LOL :) I worked with both tractor and of course package car drivers. So, getting into UPS, YRC, ABF would be the goal.
