My husband is currently working with cr england. He started in Oct. 07 i think and things just keep getting worse. He fell for the whole "ind. cont." trap and we are now in the hole to lease company. Partly our fault, but certainly not entirely. Mom in law has been in hospital for over a week and dr. thought she would pass away soon with organs failing so of course hubby came home to be with her. Well she pulled through and is doing better and monday he let dm know he was ready for load. Nothing until today when they sent him to burns harbor(unpaid) to pick up trailer so he could get a load and then no load. Of course 4:00 and everyone is gone. He can't gt ahold of dm's boss to gt a new dm and his dm is pretty much just a jerk. 3 days he has been waiting on a load and nothing but lost fuel to show for it. Please if anyone has any advice send it to me. He has never driven before and all companies he has looked at want 12- 24 months exp. If anybody knows of that magical company that will give good miles, understanding in difficult times, maybe some benefits (not a must though, i have benefits from my job) and just an overall decent place to work, please send the info my way.

    You're in Iowa near I-80, I see.

It ain't gonna get any better. It'll stabilize or get worse. Pull the ejection handle and get out now. When your husband does leave the fleece operator deal behind in a cloud of dust, be sure he turns the truck back in properly. Make sure he leaves it where they want it left, does the checklist thing with a safety guy, takes plenty of pictures of it (both inside and out), that sort of thing. That is one hoop you'd better jump through at England, lest you want them to rip you one final time.

After escaping the England jailhouse on wheels, call Crete. That company is good. It's not a heaven-on-Earth company, but it's far better than the meat grinders C.Our.England Ad, JoBHunt, and SwiftQuit. Other companies that are good are Maverick, a flatbed company outta Little Rock, Shaeffer (Crete's reefer outfit) based in Pennsylvannia, and Roehl, the dry-box company based in Wisconsin. There are even union companies that will take your husband, assuming his driving record and DAC are clean. Yeap, he wants to tip-toe away from England pronto and step into something that is not just 'more of the same BS'.

    Good luck.

    Hi-
I feel your pain. My husband fail for the lease program. We have had it so hard this past month. My advise....find a new company.
My husbands DM just called him yesterday, AFTER the fact that my husband has been sitting for a week and a half. DM just called to see, "whats going on, what is wrong?" OH PLEASE, like he didnt know what was wrong. I have wanted to call them and give them a piece of my mind, but dont know what good it would do. We have been eating sandwiches and late on rent because his DM just left him sitting.
This has really put us behind in everything. I said it to my husband last week and I will say it here, "CR England takes the cake at being the one to leave you scraping food for your family and loosing everything you have worked so hard to get." If anyone is thinking of going with CR........think of something else. You can make more money flipping the burgars at McDonalds for the other truckers than driving a truck for CR.

Oh and might I add, ATS is a good company for company drivers. My husband is going to a new company and we will see what happens!
    GOOD LUCK!

It's been interesting over the months actually seeing the turnover machine at work. I've just had to read the posts here regularly. One day, a guy posts he hates England and advises all to stay far away from that outfit. The next day, some other guy, most often a wet-behind-the-ears greenie, posts he is going to England, and is happy with his choice. Day after that, a third guy shows up posting he hates England. Fourth day.....

I vote to stay away from CRE. Get this.....They have left my husband sitting for 2 weeks now. He finally got a call from his Driving Manager 2 days ago. He called to "see how everything was going." This is AFTER the fact another company called for a reference on him. Then the next day his Driving Manager called to ask my husband, "if he was under a load." Come on, He is the DM, why doesnt he know these things. All the while, over the course of the last 2 weeks my husband has been sitting, he has called his Dm 4 times and never gets a return call OR he gets his voice mail.
This may be an okay company for team driving, but not for a solo driver in the lease program. I do NOT recommend it. We have lost almost everything down to our living room couch. So if you want to loose everything, CRE is the company to work with, I am sure they will be happy in assisting you in screwing you on everything you have worked so hard to get. NOT to mention my husbands last paycheck has a NEGETIVE balance.

Yours is a typical story. But in the coming days, some guy will log on here and proclaim to the world that he has chosen that great company out on 21st south, 10,000 block West in Salt Lake City, Utah as his initial company. The one with the red trucks and white wagons that has seen probably a quarter of the industry drive for it at one time or another. He will even be hell-bent on becoming a fleece operator driver. Hang out here and watch it happen.

Well hubby is finally with a 2nd seat and with a good load but that will only break us even with the negative amount we have for truck and ins. payments. I have been looking for other companies and came across Oberg. They are right here in Iowa and sound great, but don't they all sound great to begin with. They give you the guys who love the company to talk to and feed you full of crap then set you on your way and it all becomes a big hoax LOL. Really not that funny I guess since if he don't get away from England soon I think we will lose alot including the house. This sucks. I did get a part time job to help but I sure as heck don't make enough to pay the mortgage. Oh well, everything happens for a reason I guess. (does that ever really make anybody feel better!!)
Thanks for everyones input. I will be checking out these trucking companies alot better from now on!!!!
