New to Prime INC - What to expect (Springfield edition)

We used rather low fidelity Sims to introduce procedures to aviation students over 30-years ago. PC-ATs, monochrome monitors... Microsoft Flight Simulator is light years beyond this stuff. The students that went through the Sims were much more prepared and performed markedly better than those who didn't have that experience. You'd be surprised at how well the mind can take that kind of preparation and move it to real world situations.

 

I understand the theory, IP. I still maintain that this particular application of it is poorly executed.

 

I have a question that I cannot find an answer to anywhere on here. I start orientation on the 3rd, should I bring a resume with me? I have no prior jobs driving or anything close to it. Just wondering and its hard to get a recruiter to answer. Thanks for the answers.

 

You don't need a formal résumé, but you will need all of the data that you'd put in it. Task no. 1 when you arrive is to do the online application again in pen an ink. They'll compare the two and ask you about discrepancies. Don't worry... they're looking to catch people lying about their background. Little things aren't a big deal. Motor carriers are required to thoroughly vette applicants by federal law... its just part of the process.

 

Thanks, IP. I have nothing to worry about with lying because there isn't anything they'd ask me about that I wouldn't tell them about in my history.

 

What's the wait time to enter prime student training? Finally have some stuff complete next Tuesday that has been preventing my wife and I going. Before when we applied in the summer my recruiter Lane said the app is only good for 30 days. I want to get the ball rolling now but do now want to leave for training until after thanksgiving.

 

lakerized805, I applied with Prime on Sept 5th.. I finally got all my employment verifications finished and a date set around the 10th of Oct. My orientation date is set for Nov 3rd. I have had a couple openings come open sooner, but I just couldn't leave that fast. Hope this is what you were asking about.

 

That is a Recruiter Question<TM>. Call Prime Recruiting, tell them you want to start on 12/1, so when can you apply? They may tell you to go ahead and apply now; it depends on how far in advance they can schedule.

 

Just to update some of the information. I came into PSD on Sept 29th. Got my PSD trainer on Friday but did not leave out due to his home time that he took. We then left on the following Tuesday and began 18 days later I am coming back into to test out for my CDL. Not everyone will have the same situation due to different training and the such. We laid a lot of rubber on the asphalt during that time and I was able to get my MINIMUM 75 hours in plus another 50. Got back to SPRNGMO today and relaxing in the hotel. I came in with my permits including tanker and it helped me move quicker through the sims and the cbts as far as trainers are concerned don't get stressed out when everyone else is getting a call you will get one Prime will make sure of it. Again a lot of great info on here and really enjoying my time out so far trainer is good and we get along really well.
