Yeah it's your fuel and it's called choice..I remember something said in orientation about not deadheading when south of I10, but whats the difference deadheading down there as to anywhere else?

I spent my first 14 years running OTR out of Fla. more times than not I would DH into Ga. Even the few years I pulled a reefer, produce only goes certain times of the year. Florida is never a good idea unless you have a preplan out.
Good luck ew, maybe something half decent will pop up Mondayew2108 Thanks this. -
You should post in your own companies section. Come in post this only confuses the rookies.
mattbnr Thanks this. -
Another reason too steer clear of Florida right now is Bike Week. -
I doubt they will do anything..if it becomes a habit they could.Last edited: Oct 18, 2014

never heard anything about dead heading out of Florida.....not saying they didn't say something, just don't remember hearing it.
that said, I'd never d/h out of FL.....no reason to. You can get a load of pop out of either Auburdale or Tampa that pays about $1.25, and run it to Macon or Pensacola, and then move on with your life.....Hey, if you ran good rates going in, that 300-400 mile trip won't hurt a bit.
Ft. Worth to Auburdale, 1100 miles @ $1.87 = $2057
Auburndale to Macon, 375 miles @ $1.25 = $469
Total $2526 or $1.71 for all miles on a 3 day trip......$842 a day.
If I could do that every day, I could give up giving advice on TTR and just drive.....LOL!!!knuckledragger, ew2108, jn1427 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Funny, I lived in the Tampa area for 20 years and just about every company I worked for had me dh out more times than not. However I agree, if you can get anything out at all that's better than nothing. Like you said Dipschitt, ya gotta look at the big picture, bottom line is the average revenue in and out! Everyone should be so fortunate to average $1.71 a mile
ew2108 Thanks this. -
Florida is no difference, than running the northeast. It's just more loads in the northeast. Same concept, get the money going in and eat dirt coming out.
knuckledragger, moosc and ew2108 Thank this.
