You really are dense arent you? An internal audit could mean a number of things, most times it means to make sure the company is in compliance with the law....That is exactly what they do an internal audit to make sure they are in compliance with the DOT, this way they dont have issues they are unaware of come time if DOT decides to audit a drivers logs.

Then why are you even asking? if you understand the reset rules, you KNOW when to take it...
You are still falsifying you log claiming sleeper berth when you are in a motel room.

I read the posts here, and find it amazing that someone would ask a question on here, and then say they don't trust the answers they are given. I am off every weekend, and log the time as OFF DUTY , because I AM OFF DUTY. During the week when I sleep in my truck, I log it as SLEEPER BERTH. Does that not make sense?
    How hard was that?
To answer you original question, to take your 34 or not, is completely up to you

OMFG....It was never an issue if I was falsifying a log or not. I placed myself in sleeper when I got there, I didnt realize they were gonna take it in asap, I didnt change it because i was more concerned about letting my FM kow whats going on. It can be fixed, get over your insatiable infatuation that I am falsifying a log.

There is a huge difference between an answer that is answered in a manner that doesn't actually answer the question but rather brings up an issue that has absolutely nothing to do with the original question. Even more so given that that particular issue can be fixed with a simple phone call.

not dense on this end, if they have been doing it wrong from day one, 20 years later they are still doing it wrong.... and I have had to get out the green book with log departments and show them that they were wrong... so yes a truck driver can and does have more knowledge than a pencil pusher sitting behind a desk all day....

There are many regulations to comply with, and it is your responsibility to comply with them. And the ticket and fine will be yours, even if the log department told you it was okay to do it wrong...

oh but it is an issue.... and when the log department makes that change, they are required to give a VALID reason for the edit....

as far as the 34 hour reset, that is an optional rule, not required, up to you to comply with the regulations, and it can be more than 34 hours, but only one can be used every 168 hours, and the reset must include 2 periods of 1 to 5 am terminal time to reset your hours....

And since you are on elogs, that option will be on the screen when you get back in the truck.... and starting a reset on friday, when your truck went into the shop, will not affect your ability to take another reset next weekend....

I'm trying to provide an answer specific, although it has been answered in a manner of speaking. You can refuse a legal reset on any of them and the main reason for doing so would be so you can take one when you would want to, say over a weekend, instead of during the week on the road. It has to be at least 168 hours since starting the last one.

It was handier the way it was prior to the last rule change for those of us who have plenty of downtime and might want to take a reset to get a good run accomplished in a timely and compliant manner..

I'm on paper and seldom mark one, because I normally won't benefit from taking one and I always have it to fall back on, if I get lucky enough to run hard enough to run out of hours.

The whole focus on the sleeper berth thing may seem silly but you should get it 'fixed' anyway. I know someone who got a ticket over that silliness.

So you have an actual answer for my original question? Why not lead with that? Straight and to the point?

There is a valid reason, I was unable to go change it too off duty because they took the truck back in and for insurance purposes drivers are not allowed on the shop floor. Since its inside a locked building, and they are closed on sundays, I am unable to change it till the truck is released back to me.
