Are you wanting to be home everyday, twice a week, once every 3 months?

Own your own business. Own 3 or four trucks and dive one yourself. I figure the owner of my truck that I haul crude with is making about 5 grand a month on the trucks we drive for him and 15 grand a month for the truck he drives. I may be off on this but seems pretty close.

Owning a business is I think outside of the scope of his question. Of course successful business owners can do much better than average whether it's running a trucking company or selling widgets.

ltl freight companies, carhauling. being a local freight driver will earn you a comfortable living. being a linehaul driver will get you a sizeable raise from that.

    carhaulers get paid well too.

i wouldnt touch any of that oilfield stuff, it seems like the pay is low, they just make you work 100 hours a week.....

O/O's don't make big $$$. I wore that t-shirt. The ones who boast about making over $150,000 a year are boasting about what their truck makes, and not what they PERSONALLY make. When you're comparing a 1099 to a W-2, truck gross is irrelevant. HONEST O/O's and IC's will give you a number between $40,000-$50,000 a year, and even bull haulers average this.
