While that is true I never just sat and waited on a great paying load to show up on the board . To me even with the 2006 i kept revenue flowing because sitiing costs you no matter the truck because IMO you have to put a value on your time . So say your in the NE and there is a 1.08 load going to Chicago where you know you can get a 1.75-1.80 load . Using the sitting philosophy you would do that in hopes of a 1.40 or 1.50 load to hit the board while my approach would have turned you more revenue and roughly the same RATE PER MILE . This is why I say utilization of the truck is key no matter the truck or the fixed costs .
Landstar and I've heard Mercer TEACHES that approach ( sit ) but the key objective is Utilization of the equipment therefore sitting does not do that simply because you must put a value on
1. The equipment
2. Your time

That's so guys can brag about "I don't move my truck for less than $3 a mile" failing to say they sit 3/7 days waiting for that one load.
Jar-Head Thanks this. -
Example
Driver A runs 3100 Miles and makes 4900 gross running 68 mph
Driver B runs 2100 Miles and pulls out 3500 gross running 60 mph
Who made the most NET profit for the week ?
Granted fuel economy plays a part but the driver with less GROSS won this because of better utilization and most likely saw a higher net take home as a resort . Huge no but I'd say the difference in the 2 examples could be 200 to 250 NET difference.
My approach is work smarter not harder -
My philosophy is if you enter into a lease think of it just as that and at the end of your term get another truck .. this keeps you under warranty and upgraded equipment . The lease is structured to do this because it's based upon turning in the equipment and renewing . It's not structured to purchase the truck although you can if you so choosemoosc and stevep1977 Thank this. -

give it a year.. the cheap plastic in the freightshaker will rattle apart, water will come into the cab when it rains and you'll hear crackling and rattling sounds 24/7 as you're driving.
I've had two CrapCadias.. happened in both. -
I had 2 Cascadias as well, did have water coming in from the windshield on the last one, just had a competent windshield installer add some sealant around the windshield, problem solved. I put 130 k on the first brand new one, put 125K on a slightly used one, not much if any rattling or other annoying issues on either. The second one did have an oil leak that was a bear to get fixed. But I'm very happy overall with the Cascadia, the other brands seem to have real expensive (time consuming) problems that I have no interest in dealing with.
Will be introduced to my new Cascadia this coming Monday, has the DT12, looking forward to running Choice!Jar-Head Thanks this. -
