I'm trying to get an ideal of what kind of rates are coming out of Houston with a flatbed or step deck. I've talked to Landstar and they emailed me some loads but most of them are going to candada and I dont have a passport. Can anybody give me some rates coming out of Houston going anywhere within 1k-1500 miles? I'm trying to figure out if I can make any money by running out and back or if I would have to stay out for a while to make a decent living. Thanks for any help you can give.
Can somebody help me out with Landstar rates in Houston?

like everything else, it varies day by day. Some rates are bad, some are ok. 1.75 to 2.25 would probably be the norm.

This is just my personal experience. I generally don't have much trouble getting out of Houston with my criteria. That criteria is 48 flat, no oversize, 43,000 pounds max, east of I-35, $2.50 per mile gross minimum, $1000 minimum.

I wish they would give a login and password that would last a week so I could see various loads coming in and at at different times. I guess I'm supposed to take LS's word that they pay what they pay.

Anybody have any new info for the Houston area with a flatbed? I never made the move to Ls but have been approved now and I'm trying to make my decision. Right now I run Tx, Ok, and La and average 1.83 per mile all miles. Is it possible to stay in these same states and do better with Ls? I see a lot of people complain about coming to Houston so that makes me a little unsure of the switch. Any info is appreciated

I run TX, LA and OK I either run local or am out Mon-Thurs no later than FRI . I do ok. I have gotten some really good paying loads from LS sometimes but I hate it when they double broker and butcher rates.

Are you averaging $2.50 all miles in deadhead + loaded miles? Or is that just your loaded miles only rates? Ric is independent referring to Landstar brokered freight. Maybe one of their BCO's could paint a picture from the inside being leased on with LS.
