Clearing up things on past accidents.
1. On May 1, 2013 on I-80 wb about 38 miles w of Sidney NE, there was a snowstorm. 80 squeezed down to a one lane W-E for construction. At around 0800, I didn't have my enough front separation from Red cab in front of me. I saw her brakes blink on and wondered why is slowing on firm snow? I glance to the left and see a jack knifed truck off the road on its side. By the time I look at Red..brakes lights are steady..she's stopping! I start to slow but know there's not enough distance. I'm going to have to change lanes to avoid her trailer. Instead of not much shoulder with snow, I managed to come to stop on her left side (EB 80) with the cab. That's when Rainbow llc hit me in the trailer and pushed me forward. Rainbow left a slight grill impression on lady red's trailer. I can drive and moved forward to go around Lady Red. Fortunately no EB traffic at the time. I see why Lady Red stopped. Brother Lookee loo (same company as jack knife...SWIFT) had come to a complete stop on wb 80 (only lane) to look at jack knife. I pulled in front of him, got on the shoulder (wb) and got stuck on shoulder. NE trooper appeared in left mirror coming up from back of trailer. Asked me if I could move, I said I'll try. He went back to end of trailer and disappeared. I was trying to go forward ...just spinning...then maybe backwards..new patch of ground might help. Trooper parked by habit on right side of trailer so I didn't see him. Hood and front bumper damage or $2k said Stevens. Other trooper later said obstructed view..no citation. And actually was making a phone call to receiver in Gillette to find out best approach into his place. Got rear ended while on phone. Still glad I stopped because it was a right turn and it needed a buttonhook left AND two+ lanes of the turn to miss the traffic pole. With delay of 3 days (repairs done M-F) and parked in Walmart (400-500 away from received), I got plenty of time to look at that turn. When trailer was repaired (new left rear rim and tire..rebuilt left light box and rewelded anti collision bar), I ended up making a left turn (did a 2 mile square with lefts) into that street instead of right and still had to get left turn drivers to back up to swing it into that street. As late Paul Harvey..now you know the rest of the story.
Terminated by Swift..Quit Stevens..help!

Didn't say wasn't my fault. I admit r. turns are a problem with most of accidents..and blindly following what Navigo says to do. Trying to get to Flyn J in Scipio for first time to fuel, I trusted Navigo. Going n on I-15, I didn't know that x288 was the best exit..not x284 which Navigo said to get off of and send me on some curvy snowy downhill road to FJ. I may be off on the exit #s. Proper set up of the turn, slow to a crawl, bypass it and look for a safe haven/different approach and using all the real estate to make that turn regardless of time and screw the four wheelers (just keep them safe) are some of the things I needed to do.

Winter gets bad in that area all the way thru Wyoming.I would have called it a day since there was a snowstorm. You're not going to gain many miles anyway and no customer or dispatch is worth it.Also when the roads are that bad don't try to help your fellow trucker out because as you found out you got in a bind and had to be towed out.I never pull off on shouder covered in snow or exits.During adverse conditions you really have to play it smart. You make the call if its advisable to drive not your company.

First off..I want to say thanks to everyone for reading. Y'all must be really bored. Yes, I thought about a career change. Hope you are reading some of my replies to other driver's comments. For those who asked, I'm based out of Lakewood-Tacoma WA area. Property damage is one thing..but swiping occupied cars is not. You may say "well, it's just a matter if time...you been lucky". True, but I'm too conscious of NOT hitting the cars that those light/traffic poles take the hit. Anybody ever deliver to the Groton NAVSUB base commissary? There was a right light pole there until I showed up. No opposite traffic..swing wide...use all the real estate (one lane each way). Base traffic court gave me points back in 2-13. I do GOAL..believe me. You should see me on a blind side back. If I haven't hopped out of my truck 6-8 times backing in, I must be tired. That's why my parked neighbors aren't wakened up by me at 3am. Never had a backing/docking accident. And between 5-1-13 (NE trooper back up) to 9-3?-14 ( Labor Day Friday weekend...first Swift r. turn pole swipe), I did stay accident free...making right turns..docking..parking...etc. And maybe that's not long enuf time for your standards..well sorry. I wish I could have started with a good trucking experience but I didn't. But I still want to drive.
Well, it's Monday or a regular business day..for hiring. Trying to stay positive. Got one app..but with a Mega (sky blue trucks out of PNWest) so my hopes aren't too high. Smaller companies will be my focus. Too bad smaller doesn't mean better or just as good as. Seems like more ######## at these smaller (foreigner owner/manager screaming, "You lazy stupid piece of $*** driver..you're lucky to work for me...shut up and keep me working...lackey slave"!) Sorry..probably just stereotyping...probably false?
Anyway, gotta hit the phone/street looking for work. Thanks again for reading. Stay safe. JJRJ33RD Thanks this. -
Had one at the time. Trusted Navigo...rookie mistake. Why put something in truck that would give incorrect route directions? Don't have atlas at motel now. If you look at an atlas, you'll see it. Basically took the early exit (284?) when x288 would have been perfect.

Totally agree...now. As a rookie, you're trying to impress/do your best/man up..whatever. Sidney is nice even with Wmart and Cabelas besides the small t/s there...where I should have shut it down.

I know you asked us not to say it but...
Get out of the truck before your nxt "preventable" is a soccer Mom w carseats and babbies or a retired cple w their Grandkids...
Trucking isn't for you..X-Country Thanks this. -
I've shut down many of times there, all kinds of trk parking.
