just my .02, but with summer comming up, I would have to recamend that you always carry a few extra pairs of socks and foot powder.
I know that I have a hard time with my feet during the hot weather and had to change my socks several times a day to prevent foot rot.

Techman - y' could always drive barefoot. I don't see anything in the FMCSR about footware, and there are (contrary to popular myth) no state laws requiring shoes while driving.
-
Just drive with your feet up on the dash.

I drive barefoot 90% of the time. I only slip on shoes to fuel, go into a TS or at a shipper/consignee.
A few times I've been backing into a tight space at a truck stop and get out and look and people give me some looks when I hop out of the cab in barefeet. -
roadkill, im with ya! flip-flops all the time, even fueling or going in a T/S. shoes and socks go on when going in a shipper/receiver.... most of the time

O.K you got me, there's no Reg in the FMCSR about footwear, But I know there is at least a reg in the Washington state code and I had assumed that all states had at least some such reg on the books that had stated no open toed sandels or barefoot driving.
Am I wrong in assuming that other states had such a provision?
I know it's a stupid thing but just trying to reduce the odds some dot bear is looking for an excuse to write a ticket. -
These regs cam from old blue book laws when the pedals in the cars were metal with no covering. The idea was a barefooted driver would be unable to control the vehicle due to the hot metal and would needlessly crash.
Of course we now have air conditioned cabs and rubber pads on the pedals of the vehicles we drive so the law is antiquated and no longer enforced in any state that I am aware of. -
Be careful with that "feet out the window" thing! I sunburned the bottom of my feet once while we were in TX! I really did. Embarrassing to say the least!
And those energy drinks... the best I have found is called "Cocaine". Problem is, it can get WILD! I was wired for lights, sound, DSL and broadband for HOURS, and when I finally went to sleep, I was dreaming about a little purple monster running along the liquor shelves at the store, kicking off bottles!
