Well, we were told 30 mins for unloading or a drop/hook. Makes me wonder, though....if someone is willing to try to save every minute by just flagging time at a shipper or receiver, do they even bother to do pre-trips on trailers they pick up in the midst of their 14? I mean, that costs valuable time.

No wonder I used to pick up so #### many TBO units when I was there....

If it takes 3 hours to get unloaded do you show all 3 hours on line 4? That will kill your 70.

I was passing a truck the other day and he had his laptop on the steering wheel while driving on I 376 in Pa. Maybe he was logging it on line 3 if I would have thought about it I would have asked him how he logs it. By the way it was not a SNI truck.

LOL, you don't need to be on line 4 in order to actually inspect a trailer properly. By the way, I don't log any time on duty for loading/unloading. I do normally log 5 minutes on duty whenever I drop a piece of equipment, and always log pretrip at the beginning of the day (automatic violation for SNI regulatory), all time fueled (violation for SNI), and any roadside inspections until the cop tells me to go off duty. Although I do log post trips, SNI does not raise a stink about that because DOT only requires ONE inspection to be logged on duty each day, either a pretrip OR a post trip.

I don't pull boxes. I don't even work for sni. I pull tankers and yes I log every minute because I'm paid for every minute. I'm paid hourly. I average right around .50-.55 cpm if converted. I leave Monday and am home Friday sometimes Saturday and normally have less than 5 hours left on my 70. Do a 34 over the weekend, wash rinse and repeat.

You guys have actually pointed out the very flaw with getting paid by the mile. People cheat their logs to save every minute they can because your only getting paid for ONE aspect of your job.

When I pulled dry bulk I did log 30 minutes loading and 30 minutes to unload only because I was actually loading and unloading. It did most of the time take longer than 30 minutes to unload, but I just logged it consistently. Now while sitting at a dock doing nothing but being on the computer, choking my chicken or whatever, it's going to be off duty. When I was on paper logs, I tore up pages every day to redo the logs to get done what I needed to get done. Most anyone that says they do everything 100% by the book or never fudge anything, is most likely fudging when they say that. Not sitting here saying I was proud of it, but you do what you have to do and make it look right if you are on paper.
