The snowball effect is crazy around this place. Wake up and find out that load 3 of 5 in my preplan has cancelled not to big of a issue most of my loads are essentially short hops around southern jersey and southeast pa, just lost income.

So Im up in rotterdam today i have a drop trailer that is supposed to get delivered around one i go in a bit early and they say to me "is this a unload for 5?" I say "no maam its a 1pm drop." She goes into the office and says im pretty sure its a live and how she will make a call for me. After her call she tells me they will figure it out at 3pm so just come back later.

In my mind im saying i cant believe this S#!%, my next pick up is at 4 and its a beautiful 4500 pound load i really need to get me into Jersey i do not want to get stuck up here in Rotterdam.

So im waiting now hoping customer service can work some magic to get this trailer dropped by 2-230.

Reason #212 why i love the 680's tv mount and swivel chair I created a multi screen office

Methinks you took offense where none was tendered. My point was general, not directed at anyone in particular. I'm more than aware of the point you made, and have operated that way since I started in '96. What I said via implication is that a minimum of 15 minutes has always been required by my employers, SNI included, for a drop OR hook, 30 for both or a live load (more or less). I find it difficult that DOT would believe anyone that shows so little time on line 4 to be logging even faintly honestly, and is a big red flag in my personal opinion.

That said, I no longer have the desire to run "every mile I can" in the literal sense of the phrase. So relax, TennMan....I've always enjoyed your input and did not take aim at you personally.

When I pulled tanks I never even considered being off duty when climbing and walking on top of tanks. I was always on duty because, well, it isn't the safest spot to be at.

PS, how is it "cheating" your logs by not logging every single second on duty? Give me a rulebook from FMCSA and/or Federal DOT and I'll show how you can interpret the rules one way or the other, whichever side of the bed I woke up that morning. Hell, I've been in a level 1 roadside inspection and the Ohio SP asked me why I was on duty and wasting my hours during an inspection, looking at me like I was stupid for wasting my hours.

I think if I'm being loaded, me staying on line 4 the whole time is falsifying the log. Unless I'm actively loading the truck, or doing a piece count, I'm off duty twiddling my thumbs and I will log it as such.

Seventy hours in one hundred sixty eight should be plenty to make those truck payments.
    That's not the problem.
    Its that 14 hour deal.

The 14 hour deal isn't a problem either really if you learn to work around it and know how to schedule yourself effectively. Yeah, it's a ridiculous and ineffective rule when it comes to safety but it is what it is.

It's not that I run very hard at all and I always have 20 hours or so left at the end of my week, I just save every minute I can because in any given day you might need them. I apologize for my retort and do not mean to offend either. I welcome all to SNI.

That's weird because every dot I've had in 18 years the officer has start and end time of inspection along with location. And theyve watched me input it because well its the law.
