You'll love the difference I can't stand a 550 or 475 anymore and there is a very substantial difference

    chub24 Thanks this.

Same engine. Other than the pistons are a little bigger and longer stroke crank. You will notice the slight difference!

If a C15 twin turbo engine is rebuilt with a C16 platinum kit is it a 15.8 litre engine then?

Can't be done unless you change the crank. Your not gaining that much. Twin acert are 15.2 c16 is 15.8. You have a better bottom end with the Acert setup. That's what I just did. Swapped my C16 crank for an Acert crank and 16.1 steel pistons. Can take the heat without scoring liners as easy as you can with the two pc alum skirt c16 pistons.

Now don't flame me too bad here...but I was always under the impression the c15 twin turbo had the same BORE as the 14.6L c15/14.6L 3406E but had the same STROKE as the 15.8L C16/3406E

It's been a while since I dug into my specs book but have I been bass ackwards for a while???

Either way you sir are correct CAT got it incredibly right with the twin turbo motors strength wise...just too bad the epa completely screwed it up. I know of a couple 15.2L converted back to a single that I can't keep up with...least not with my factory file.

Same bore 14.6 has 6.5 stroke crank. 15.2 and
15.8 has 6.75 stroke cranks but different rod journals. 15.8 uses larger diameter pistons with thinner linners. Blocks are about the only thing they share in common and a few other parts.
