yea but 157k? Unless you bought a new truck each year thats a little steep. Or you are running teams and not getting paid well for it lol. I mean thats a lot of truck repairs and new tires. Now if you have a driver you are paying for then that makes more sense. Friend of mine here in DFW is profiting about 55k( Before taxes) per truck he runs here inside Texas for the most part. And 90 percent of his loads are from Internet Trucker or off the DAT boards. Now maybe hes the rare form? Idk going to have to find out for myself I guess lol.

If he hasn't paid taxes on it he can't be claiming $55,000 in profit. I'm sure he's leaving a LOT of other expenses out and lots of people who've never ran a truck are impressionable to big (meaningless) gross numbers. If he's lucky the truck he drives profits maybe half that after every conceivable expense. A lot less paying drivers. That would be in a good year.

He has about 55k left over after all expenses. I run a business as well in house at the same company as he does. I just dont have any tractors. I know his drivers are making about 1100 a week or so. So from what it sounds like on here most of the O/O are not taking home more than 40k or so a year. Then my question is why in the hell would someone want to do that? When you could make up to 80k a year running locally for an LTL company paid hourly? Some of the guys who pickup at our location are making 25 an hour working 70 hours weeks. Another guy I know is running from dallas to houston and back daily. Does about 1100 a day and spends about 350 on fuel. I was looking to maybe getting in on that route since they are needing more trucks. Anyway I guess I still have more homework to do. I just cant see how my box truck can out do a tractor profit wise. Maybe I should stick to them lol. I am looking to do about 110k this year gross with my box truck leaving me about 65k left before taxes.

You said he had $55,000 profit before taxes and now that's what he has after taxes. So what is it? Can't get the story right. That's why I'm sure a LOT is being forgotten.

I think you are miss understanding me. He has more than one truck which he is averaging around 55k left after he pays for all the maint, truck note, insurance, driver pay, etc. Now with that said he still has to take taxes out of that. We did not go into detail over what he pays on his taxes because he has several different types of trucks etc. As a whole hes doing very well and im not sure how much out of 55k is coming out. I would assume worst case would be 10 to 12k here in Texas. So his net is more like 45k per truck. Now yes I understand that one blown engine etc could eat that up but fortunately for him I dont think hes had anything major like that happen over the last 7 years.

Now if this is a fluke and hes just doing really well then ok but would like to know if people are able to build and profit from owning fleets. I assume they do or they wouldnt be in business doing it. Im just here trying to do my homework before I throw down a bunch torwards a truck etc. I would like to get experience running a couple because a few doors down the road could open up with a few customers I know doing dedicated runs for them. First have to get some experience though.
