Ok so I am all set to go to my training school next week except for 1 thing...I still don't have my permit. I'm really worried that I'm going to fail. I'm having alot of trouble remembering all that I've been reading so I'm trying to go through a test prep course. Here are the question's I have: 1)Am I making this harder than it is? 2)Do as many people fail the permit test as I've heard fail it? 3)How long did you study for the test before you took it? 4)Do you have any tips for me? Thanks for the help!
I am at a school ("mill") right now but I found the online tutorial that Schneider has on their website to be helpful... even with the materials our instructor gave us. I don't know how great it is for states other than California, but I saw many of the questions from the tutorial on the actual test. It really wasn't that bad.......... but some people get test anxiety so I am not going to say it is a breeze.... Also......... it is not a one shot deal......... if you fail you can come back and take it again! Then you will know EXACTLY what to study!
I read through the whole book in one night, went to bed, went to work, showered, then went to the secretary of state. There are parts you'll want to re-read, mostly the parts with the numbers. The first time I took the CDL-A test I did exceptionally well. The second time, to get my CDL TIP, I just breezed through it and managed to pass.
your probably making it harder then it really is. just relax when you take it and try not to read to much into each question. i read the book over and over again until i took my tests. again, just relax, youll do fine also, the the school i went to, you dont even need your permit until your second week because the first week was all in class stuff..but im sure different schools, different rules
yup - it's going to depend on you. When I took the written, I was with 3 other members of my class. I took Combination Vehicles, Air Brakes, Tankers, Doubles/Triples, and Hazmat - on top of the General Knowledge. The computerized tests stop offering questions as soon as you get enough right to pass - so I was done quickly. In fact, I was done before any of the other guys - none of whom did Hazmat, Doubles/Triples, or Tank. So =-= the test is what you make of it
1)Am I making this harder than it is? yes 2)Do as many people fail the permit test as I've heard fail it? maybe - if they don't study 3)How long did you study for the test before you took it? just what was taught in the class 4)Do you have any tips for me? I don't know how your school is, but we learned in the class the first few days what we needed to know to take the permit test. if your school requires a permit before you start, what are they going to teach you?
I'm assuming they are going to teach me how to.... drive a truck? Roehl....permit required prior to school.
Nice! I got a good laugh. I've been taking the test prep classes on the computer and it is really helping. I pushed my date back (school) until June2nd so now I can relax and pass the tests instead of rushing through them. I have to pay a little more for school now...but oh well.
I liked your response....... I just couldn't resist........ The permit is just a written test so I am not surprised a lot of the companies want you to have it out of the way before you get to them..... I wish my school had so we could have skipped 20 hours of being bored out of our minds studying!!
