Found another new 4 lane road that's at least 1 year(maybe 3 years) old in Minnesota, highway 14.
With all the FREE updates drivers must transmit to Rand. I think the least Rand could do is return the favor and give us the new maps. SO we can evaluate the new maps for mistakes and Rand can update again and claim a new improved version.
I so wish I would not have bought this xxx.

I have a TND 510, which I have had since 2011. Recently, it has been having issues with brightness in the daytime. I have it adjusted to the highest daytime setting but it is still difficult to see on a sunny day. It is set on automatic and I have also tried daytime only, to no avail. I called Rand McNally and they told me that I probably have an issue that can only be fixed at the factory; to the tune of about a hundred bucks.
Grasping at straws here, I suppose, but would anybody have any advice for a fix so that I don't have to shell out all that dough?
    Thanks!

Didn't you get the last update? RM was nice enough to turn off that "your maps are over a year old" warning you used to get whenever booting up your tnd...

Yes it has been beat to death. But the truth is RM is not caring about their past customers, only the new ones. I'm sure this subject would die if RM would've held up their end of the bargain when they advertise lifetime maps that is 8 months over due.

Isnt that a nice fix for a problem they created? Instead of a company caring as much about previous customers as they do about new ones.

This whole thing about being upset about no new updates is about the bottom line. RM's customer service is bad in the respect they feel they already have the old customers and if you or we want the new maps they want everyone to buy the newer units.

So by this the owners of the older units do have a right to complain because they haven't gotten what was advertised when you bought the previous units.

A new update would be nice but the truth is that i just replaced my 2010 truckers atlas with a 2015. The 2010 was still working just like my 720... it still gets the job done and whenever i come across a new highway i realize i am not in the middle of a field just because the gps thinks i am... just like i dont turn down bicycle paths

Yes I agree with you 100 percent but the thing that upsetting people is they were told when bought the units lifetime updates. That is not happening. It basically comes down to false advertising. In some cases that would be grounds for a class action law suite.

It's not false advertising because they are gonna be released. They are making sure they deliver a finalized product.
This is why Apple doesn't announce a update until they are sure they are gonna release it.
