as a woman in the trucking industry (not a driver, but I work at a trucking company), I am deeply offended and saddened to see those words written about a woman driver (Maverick Driver of the Year '07). The simple fact that she was voted into that position by probably nearly all MEN should speak volumes for the Maverick fleet.

I'd overlooked that point - and it's a good one.

I'm still frustrated and saddened to see it brought up at all the way you did. And now you are trying to fob it off as "that's the way society is" kinda crap, rather than apologize to all the ladies out there.

Regardless of any other argument you might have posed in the discussion, this particular one was absolutely irrelevant and provides a tremendously strong indication of your own personal biases.

I'm more than willing to listen to people - even people who recount 14 year old experiences as though they might be germane to today's discussion. But when you drop in something as completely meaningless as this, my willingness to listen to you decreases. Couple that with the reactionary attitude it displays, and my willingness to hear your arguments pretty much evaporates.

Probably nearly all ?? Voted into THAT position !! Speak Volumes ?
I know what your saying for the Maverick Fleet.

The deep sad offensive frustrating response to my crude but true comparison between Mav and TMC earlier is predictable as anything ever on this planet.
So this is an accomplishment for Maverick Transportation ?

    Im Not Sorry.

Animal control....what that means is that the MEN who work for Maverick respect the fact that a woman can do flatbed, and obviously do it very well. They don't all think that women are only good at having babies, cooking or cleaning. and for that, I think that speaks volumes for the fleet.

that's what I meant by my comment. If you weren't living in the dark ages, you would have understood what I meant. :biggrin_25513:

Your Idea of "The Driver of The Year" award is completely different than any I ever understood. Maverick Transportation expected 100%,my crude but true comparison when appointing the 2007 recipient.

As I stated initally both TMC and Mav. are better of worse in their own ways. Around 1998 both companys started straying from their norm. TMC failed with their South Port/Cimmeran/Fortune X deal. Maverick Way now lacks refinement, and has veered completely off course.

Well, that's funny. I am sitting in CO and have talked to 3 mav drivers that just came out of CA. Granted they was in the long haul div, but to hear you tell it mav is on a short leash.:biggrin_2556:

I have applied for both of these carriers and have already heard from Maverick but am still waiting on TMC to call. I guess I will have to call them and see if they have received my info. At Maverick I spoke with Angie in recruiting and told her that Notarpsforme was my referral. I will be done with driving school on June 27th and should be ready to roll then. TMC I am not so sure as I read more blogs and talk with drivers at the truck stop around the corner from my house. Can anyone tell me what the trainers at TMC & Maverick might be like? I am hoping I won't get stuck with a nutbar or a driver with an explosive temper, that would suck. Please help?

Trainers can be good, bad or indifferent with any company. It is luck of the draw unless you know and request a specific trainer. Remember this when you are filling out your critique at the end of your training. If more trainees would be honest the bad trainers would be weeded out.

With TMC you do need to call recruiting. I don't know what their deal is, they seem not to return calls unless you are persistant.
