Atbs helps driver you get for free for 6months, take advantage of it they'll tell what you need to do improve on. Failing well most just get in over there head and have no experience and dont run it like a business. You don't posters on here failing but there out there.

Yes. There are a couple of "benefits" to being an employee. Your company contributes $150 to your retirement every week???? Don't thinks so. My wife covers us on Health. And no it's 20% on the gross of $2,000 which is $400. I should be getting some of that back. I have dependents and a mortgage to shelter my tax liability. Everyone is different.

JUST COMPARE GROSS TO GROSS WITH A VERY SMALL DIFFERENCE FOR "COMPANY BENEFITS".

The above are all great examples of failure of the program . You do have to work and you can't lay at home 4 daysc a week and still have a max profit if any . To me it lays on as mentioned

    1. Poor planning
    2. Poor home time decisions
    3. Not understanding how to fuel properly
    4. Excessive spending of profit on toys , vactations etc ...
    5.No slush fund ( savings )
    6. No duediligence done before starting
    7. Not enough trucking exp ( 6mths )

I just book it down to not understanding how to differ from being a EMOLOYEE to being in BUSINESS

Exactly! If your IQ is low and your a little lazy, and up to your eyeballs in debt. This may not be for you.

One needs to take full responsibility, and dedicate themselves to the business. If your the kind of person that blames everyone else but yourself, don't do it.

As an Ole O/O, I to saw failure of some... When the big checks started rolling in, they would hit the chrome shops, and add a bunch of Xmas lites, have others polish their fuel tanks and wheels... The trucks did look nice..
When needed repairs, maintenance happened, they paid others to do it... They would hit the lounge and watch TV all day eating outa those machines in there..

The ones that stood a chance of making it, I did, they would get their coveralls on and grease and work on their truck before spending time in the lounge area.. If the truck was fine, unroll the tarps and repair them,, there is always something to do.. bring you paper work into the lounge area and finish it, do let it get ahead of you..

Polish and spit shine on trucks, don't put money in the bank, period.... Usually a good wash job will do....

Like others have said, the truck is an important tool, but a tool nonetheless.. Refusing loads because you just don't like going there and nothing else is available, so you sit, another way to self destruct your business...

Those were the main reason why truckers failed in the past, and being lazy of course...

Our round table discussions usually was about freight areas and repairing our trucks, along with that hot waitress bringing the coffee...

Musta paid off, I was able to retire at 55 with a healthy bank account.. Even at 72, still miss that ole truck sometimes... I was a pretty good life, for the most part... Don't dell on the bad, just suck-it-up and go on.......
