I know they do compensate for shorter runs I forget what is tho. I'll look it up tomorrow on my break. -
Hubby called me last night and said Swift was assigning him a "new" truck. They said he had to drop a load in S.C., take a bus to GA. to get the "new" truck and then drive it back to S.C. to get all his belongings that he can't take on the bus from the "old" truck. He's worried about someone stealing his stuff while he's gone - should he?
Also, we're going to be patient for a couple more months to see if he doesn't get longer runs. Hope it gets better. -

If he paid off his training he's free to go elsewere. So many people here talk about how bad it is being chained to a company because they owe for the training. Those who make these claims should be able to suggest better companies to go to.
I hope they can. I want to get into driving also. So I will follow this story to see were it goes. Some have mention Maverick is co. that will take new drivers, the pay is better, go to their website, then find others on this website. -
With a new truck they'll most probably run him ragged. Like I mentioned before tho if they're still running him shallow after the second or third month start speaking up.
A lot of times they like to keep older trucks close until it's time to get a newer truck.
Hope this kinda helps. -
I just spoke with him, the "new" truck is a POS. And, I'm not sure how this happened, but the DM got the paperwork all screwed up and the truck wasn't even half ready when he acquired it. Now, he says the QualCom isn't working and he has to hike back to the terminal and hopefully someone can fix it - after riding on the bus all night and not getting any sleep (since 5 a.m. yesterday).
He's definitely not a happy camper -
Most of us older and experienced guys, enjoy a brand new truck. After it's got about 100K miles on it. Until that time, most are a POS. But they look and smell nice.
You spend the first year, working the bugs out of it and making trips to the shop for first year "required" maintenance.
