With all the stupid laws and regulations we have one of them should require employers to verify employment for ex employees. Any company maliciously preventing an ex employee from obtaining employment should be illegal.

Here' how I quit Werner,im at home called my dispatcher and said I quit,im going to clean the trk out and ill bring it back to Omaha in the morning.I was planning this for weeks bur wanted to wait till I got home first so I could clean the trk.

You often hear people complain about a lack of professionalism. To me, one thing a professional does is provide written notice of their intent to leave an employer. What your employer does with that information is on them, but imo you can never go wrong by doing the right thing.
That said, if I was in a situation like others have described where I'd turned in a notice and the company was trying to hang me out, I wouldn't hesitate to fuel up and drag their empty equipment back to the terminal where it came from.allniter, Steinbrenner and n3ss Thank this. -
In this biz, truck is at yard, bye-bye, no notice needed. If you're a 1000 mi from base, you give notice and then hope to hello they get you back to yard to quit.

Professionalism shoud not start and end with the driver either,how professional is it when a driver gives a 2 weeks notice the company promises you can go home and clean the trk out then bring it back to the term but instead they hold it against the driver and won't accept the notice the dispatcher routes the driver to the term says clean the trk out you're done and then the driver has to pay for his own way home,how professional is that?

I learned long ago in this industry you have to fight fire with fire.Mostly mega carriers could care less and a 2 weeks notice means absolutely nothing to them.Drivers think they're doing the respectful thing by giving their employer a 2 weeks notice but many times after that you and your dispatcher hate eachother.Companies hold it against drivers for what drivers feel they're doing the right thing.The best way to quit a company is while on hometime.I quit Werner and Gainey that way.

A 2 weeks notice was required to get back the "tractor damage fee" that was taken out of my check in $25 increments for the first several months after I was hired. I gave the 2 week notice and nothing changed. Still got miles and was treated the same as always. A few weeks later the tractor damage fee was deposited into my account.
