I gotta post something here. I drove for Swift And I also drove for Roehl. No comparison between the two companies. Truckin is a completely different way of life, and it sounds to me like you are not cut out for it. I would have to and will say that if you cant drive for Roehl, then you cant drive for anyone. Did I have problems at Roehl, heck yes,but I always managed to take care of them in a professional manner. By either talking the problem over with my DSR, or fleet mgr. As for payroll I called them one time to get a clarification on a bonus, and they were very friendly and professional. They came right to the point with straight answers. I am now retired and I still keep my CDL up to date, and if I ever want or need to go back into truckin it will be with Roehl. Dont mean to ruffle your feathers, but maybe you should think about changing careers.A career where you will be home every night and every weekend. As long as your driving a truck over the road that aint gonna happen. Its a different life, get used to it or get out.
the Roehl way....yeah right

tolerance is higher than mine. I am still driving, for your information, and I enjoy it, not to mention it is much more lucrative than EVER driving for Roehl. And I haven't had any problems with payroll, fleet manager, or anything else. Sure, I have long days and weeks which I don't make as much as others, but maybe your statement about "If you can't drive for Roehl you can't drive for anyone" is not accurate. I'm still driving and I enjoy it. I think I'll stay in, but I'm happy for you that you "got out".
Good day. -

So they are way better then the military but you still had too many issues to work there? Why even compare the military to a civy job. One is service to the country, the other? Who cares. See the difference?
Did not feel safe to drive in NY? Never heard that one before and I thought I heard all the excuse for not going to the empire state LOL!
They singled you out for a UA? duh! Roel and half of the company's out there like to give UA's when returning to work. Guess how many they catch with dirty pee? Which is why they do it, but you were offended because they did it to you?
I am by no means a apologist for Roel but as a prior service guy I would have to say some of your rant was unworthy of someone with that kind of background.

I have been at Roehl a little over 7 months now. They are my first and only OTR company I have been with. I had the exact problem with my Frieghtliner and the coolant system as you. My motor shut off coming down the mountains near Ashville with 40,000 lbs. I learned at that point and all the crap I had to go thru to get that truck back that I had better develop some thick skin pretty quick. I am also on the honor program and can tell you first hand that they run us harder than the mileage based guys. I average 3000-3500 a week and I never sit for more than 2 hours waiting for a load. My biggest beef with Roehl is that everytime I am due to come home I have to fight for my hometime. I am out of Ellenwood and a ton of freight runs thru Atlanta yet every two weeks they can't seem to get me home. Then they try to cut my hometime short. I have been forced to take loads, this last time out my DSR got crappy with me because I lost my passport and couldn't go to Canada. I have met my idle time and over speed, yet I have never earned a bonus because for some reason they seem to make sure I run as close to the required miles without going over. When I get my 1 year experience I will leave Roehl and catch on with a more reliable and trustworthy LTL company somewhere in Atlanta. Roehl is a decent place to learn to drive but as for a career, NO WAY. I have only 5 months left and then I can start to live a better life.

No. I do not use drugs. But I found, how my DSR dealt with me coming off leave was extremely unprofessional. I would have gladly offered a UA before taking the truck out. Which is what should have happened. But, I drove 1300miles and then received one. They were so concerned a driver was using drugs that they allowed the driver to drive 1300miles before a test? Again, safety is the corner stone value?
I was a professional soldier. I know what sloppy looks like. And Roehl is a soup sandwich. If you cannot maintain a level of professionalism, then don't BS people into thinking you do.

My age is irrelevant. I don't claim to know everything, but I've been around the world, seen things I wish I hadn't and done things most won't. Life experiences far outweigh my age. My age should play no part in this. Also, my limited driving experience is not relevant to this debate either. This isn't a debate about the actual act of driving, this is a discussion on how others, myself included, have been treated by this company. If you are resorting to calling me out on age and driving experience, then your argument may hold less weight than I thought.
