You should be close to coming off your trainers truck. Just ignore him and stick it out till you get on your own.

After your last day, maybe put a glob of grease on their car door handle, and a note, "Thanks for everything". :biggrin_2559:

What's harder, getting accepted into Harvard or getting a driving job for Walmart?

Anything with menthol might work too. Though there's far better places to put that...

I think it's ironic... Walmart will hire nearly anyone to work in the public eye as a cashier, stocker, ect... But they are the most critical company for drivers.

If I remember right, it's something like 5 million safe miles and 10 years... I'd be inclined to say Harvard is easier to get into! Except you pay Harvard what you'd make at Walmart; those guys START at 1$/ mile.

Word of mouth to be honest. Usually I'll say if it's confirmed or not but I'm slipping lately it seems.

9600 miles a week for 10 yrs and spotless safety record? Now thats a good driver! No wonder I had to help that driver chain up on lookout pass yrs ago, he was probably just to darned tired. ;)

I'm 24 now and have been driving trucks since 2 weeks after I turned 21. I too thought I was anti-social and would have no problem being out long periods of time away from people, but I started to miss my family and friends a lot.

I worked otr for over a year then tried local, didn't work out and went back otr. Now I'm local again but this time doing the job I wanted to do ever since before I got my cdl, I haul fuel local in Florida.

Once you get through training just tough it out, things will get better and just get a year in and a whole load of opportunities will be available for local work. Ltl, logging, fuel, chemicals, local p&d, and so much more. Just give it time.

It doesn't have to be all at once... Like I said, it's word of mouth.

My company is team only. I have been OTR with a teammate for 7 months. I went through 4 teammates already. I think I have the process of teaming down to a science.

    Week 1 with new partner:

Things are great. Your partner is great. We are both getting along and making money, no problems.

    week 2:

Co-Driver is kind of getting on my nerves, but overall no complaints.

    week 3:

    FIGHT TILL THE DEATH!

    Mr.X Thanks this.
