What do you mean you didn't wanna risk your life? You should have walked over there and gave your side of the story as well.Sounds like it was their fault and they know that as well but they're going to lie out of it At least if you was right there you could have told boss what happened.

it was about 40-50 feet after the intersection so I was completely going straight at the time of the person hitting my truck, the person probably was running late for work and didn't look and just went to the left lane and didn't notice a big truck next to them. So they ended up hitting the side of my right front wheel, the lug nuts.

It was a very busy road, and the cars behind us just speed around, I don't know if you know traffic in some parts of ny, its dangerous to just get out of the truck sometimes. Basically before I could get my seatbelt off and get out of the truck the witnesses were gone, unless I did some type of maneuver to try to block 3 lanes with my truck to stop them. I told my boss over the radio what had happened for everyone at my job to hear, when I called it in, and not allowed to get out of the truck at my job till you call in and let them know about it first.

Oh! Well hell, that's not your fault and has nothing to do with laws. Plain and simple, the SUV was cutting you off and not paying attention.

If you got pictures, save them. If your employer got pictures, ask for copies. If you can find the witnesses, ask. Ask about local cameras and I'd even go so far as to go to the police on your downtime and ask for advice, often times they are on our side despite what others say. I've had police stop and thank me for being safe when they see me in a truck stop...

I still stand by mirror checks though. I believe there's one poster on here that says something akin to realizing that accidents aren't accidents, they are crashes.

How long are you suspended for?I know Ney York all too well,I see your point.I do think it was wrong of your boss to automatically take the word of the other side.

I think a police report won't do any good.Far as your company is concerned you're guilty and nothing will change that.

I think the police report would help for court(could go for the 3 days I missed from work), they did an investigation with the safety team at my job, and decided I was at fault before they even read my accident report which took me 2 hours to fill out, or a police report.
