Hello everyone my name is Travis, and as of 12-04-14 I got my CDL. I went through the Miller-Motte CDL training, and for anyone interested in getting their CDL I would recommend it for anyone who insterested, at least for the Miller-Motte in N.Charleston. My question I bring to this form today is how bad will this driving record hinder me? My most recent ones where when I was living in Texas, and was doing a small deliver route, delivering dry cleaning. 08-08-14 I was pulled over for doing 27MPH in a 20MPH zone, I really thought the speed limit was 30MPH. The other one was running through a stop sign, that was put up the day before I ran it, I was so used to it not being there I did not see it. No excuse, but still. and the other one was speeding 55 in a 40 MPH zone. The cop was sitting on the other side of the sign of the 40MPH sign where is drops from 55 to 40.
Other then these 3 I have nothing else that would show up on a 3 year limit, nor a 5 year limit. I normally drive at or slower then posted speed limit signs, and never run a stop sign, but that one. Im worried this will hinder any possible jobs, and right now I cant afford that. Am I screwed? Will having a SC license help hide that since some time states don't talk?
Thank you for any responses.

The 15 MPH over ticket is going to be an issue for you. Many...if not most companies will specifically ask if you've had any tickets that was 15 or more MPH over the speed limit in the past three years, five years, etc. Who knows...maybe where you've just had the one, you can find a company to overlook it.
On your driving record as a whole...I wouldn't expect three driving infractions in the past 12 months to do you any favors, but I would expect that you can find someone to overlook them. -
Is there any possibility you can go back and fight those tickets? Maybe get a lawyer and see what he/she says? All 3 of those in a short time period aren't gonna be good.. I don't mean to be negative, and definitely don't give up, but I'd look into getting at least one of those knocked off (preferably the 15MPH over)..
Doesn't help you now, but in the future- contest EVERYTHING!!!The towns just want money and you just want to keep your driving record clean.. Pay em a few extra bucks if you have to -
One in the past 12 months.
Three in the past 3 to 5 years.
One MAYJOR @ 15 over.
Dude....not looking good. A 5 year old DUI would be better than the above combination. -
My tickets kept me from being hired by bad companies...and they were more recent and worse. There is hope.

I didn't think the law was able to sit right at the speed change anymore. Find out if that's the case, it's an old trap they used to use in Ga but I am pretty sure they can't do that anymore.
That knowledge may not help your current situation (except to tell anyone that asks that practice is now forbidden.) but it'll certainly help you contest any future issues too. -
Most companies will ask you on the application to list any accidents over the past 3 years, traffic convictions and forfeitures for the last three years and driver's license you have held in the past three years and from what state. When the company runs a MVR (motor vehicle report) the info comes from all states that you list on the application as states you have had driver license's in. If they use a program called SAMBA it comes from the lower 48 states and Alaska. Its the insurance companies that you have to worry about not the company you are trying to get on with. Face it, drivers are hard to come by and there is a shortage of drivers. If the company wants you bad enough they will go to bat with the insurance company to get you on. Good luck.
Vilhiem Thanks this. -
Thank you all for replying. I have been sending out apps to some places, and have not had a call back, and Im worried it could be due my driving record. I wish they would at least send me something saying we are unable to accept you at this moment or something of the sort. Im going to try OTR, but find one that would get me home every weekend, and we had some company's stop by my class a guaranteed they can do so. I have 30 days from the day I graduated to start paying back the school, and if this driving history hinders me IM "Ducked" as my phones spell checker would say. -gulp- I guess I'll make some calls tomorrow and find out. To add, My insurance company is USAA, and my rates never went up due any of those moving violations. I did defensive driving for the stop sign, and just paid off the other two.
Heres where I have applied thus far.
Coke
Pepsi
Waste Pro
Budweiser
Ready Ice.
Was going to apply to a trucking company called Wilson, but when I walked in and ask they said they wanted 1 year exp first... So im experienced in being told I need experience. -
I never listed my Texas driver license so if they don't use SAMBA potentially I could be ok? Its not like I tried to hide my Texas license I was never asked.
