That's why I wear flip flops & they don't go past the shifter ( and also the main reason I don't have a dog riding along & tracking that #### all over).

My biggest fear is D.O.T. someday catching me on video peeing in their inspection area! I tried driving barefoot, but takes to long to lace up the boots when I need to get out of the truck.
Barefoot driving is also illegal in WA I believe.

Yes, but as stated on the website....

The information below was provided by Jason R. Heimbaugh, based on research he did in 1994. Except as noted in a few cases, we do not have any current updates, but we have no reason to believe that there have been any changes in what was reported by Mr. Heimbaugh.

And, here's a more recent article from the auto insurance agency, located here ---> http://www.carinsurance.com/Articles/barefoot-driving-legal.aspx

    Tuesday, May 14th, 2013

You may not be able to walk into a McDonald's in bare feet, but you can drive there without shoes.

Driving a car barefoot is legal in all 50 states. While the risks of barefoot driving are debatable, the practice is not illegal, though most people assume that it is.

    *snip*

After a few minutes of searching, there is no distinction between driving a commercial vehicle barefoot or a car barefoot. The only example noted is Alabama, with motorcycles.

Of course, this is the internet, so it must be true!!! /sarcasm.

And feel free to post any state law, with reference to the contrary. I'm open minded. And not stating I know better than you or "I am the law" - Judge Dredd:biggrin_25523: . I can also say I'm sorry if this has been updated on a state by state case.

*as with anyone's post, this is my opinion, based on my 5 minutes of searching. I'm not the law, nor to I profess to be an expert. You asked for an opinion, this is my opinion. Do with it as you wish. And of course, use your own judgement!

I wear Merrell or Cabela's brand jungle Moc's, they are a waterproof slipon shoe. Anytime I'm heading some place on a long flat stretch, I'll slip them off and relax, the cruise control is on, and if I need to hit the pedals, I'll do it in my socks. I can slip my shoes on in 2 sec. if I need to get out of the truck.

My boots sit between the seat and the driver's door and they've never been farther than that. I take them off right there on the step.

Someone posted about getting a ticket for not having shoes on but I can't find the thread. It was dismissed or something because they were wearing socks and their feet were protected.
