Crete Carrier - A Year In Review - Fall 2013 Going Forward

I'd be surprised if they didn't. I'm sure there's a hiring map on our website, or you can call and ask. Don't be afraid to ask recruiters questions, just don't ask for anything they can't twist the truth on, like averages, opinions or, best yet, there promises to treat you like a special snowflake (you are a butt for an empty seat).

 

Thanks for the response. I will give them a call as I have others with my list of questions. As far as I know the truth can be twisted by anyone, anytime but that's life. One thing I do know is if you believe everything people say you have no idea what you are doing. I'm not looking for the perfect company just somewhere that I can gain the experience & knowledge of the industry. Again thanks snowflake (lol) & travel safe.

I used to vacation in Myrtle Beach, great times

 

Me too then I decided to move here. Now I vacation in the mountains & seldom go to the ocean. Ironic.

 

1/3 left to go on this 2317 mile LTL-6 stopper .....total weight 8,320. Bad news...1600 miles have been on snowy I-90/1-94.

 

Seems like you've realized something important already, you have to look out for yourself out here. I'm overly cynical at times, sure, but you really need to be prepared to be the only guy in your corner out here sometimes. When you work for a mega carrier, throw all that team player BS out the window. They're out for money, you need to be out for yourself. Trust me, they'd leave you on the road in a ditch in a hot second to save 100 bucks if you couldn't profit them anymore. I just realized that that literally happens to people, I meant to be overdramatic...

I do appreciate your bold honest opinion, that is hard to find in most people these days. I'm still in the process of nailing down a training school so I have a bit more time before I have to make a company choice. The plan is by February to be in CDL training & go from their.
As far as company choices I've been considering the following. Crete, CT, TMC, Super Service, Cypress, McElroy, Melton & a few others. Each for a variety of reasons.
I would like to start with flatbed but dry van would work as well. I have no interest in refrigerated. My goal is to get into tanker & let it flow from their. However it works out we will work on it.

 

Crete called me this morning & they do hire from my area but told me I needed 1 year otr. The school I plan on attending isn't on their approval list. Oh well other options are out there or I could choose a different school.
