don't start anywhere as a noob with an auto truck, get the experience with a stick.. it will help you down the road getting a better job.

also apply everywhere you can if you haven't already.

It's possible you heard wrong or mixed it up with a different recruiting spiel or that recruiter slipped up and meant to say we don't run all 48. I am a current TransAm driver and have been here 2 years now. Our freight is the eastern US and SoCal. Now you might cross through NV, UT, and western WY coming out of Cali to get back to the meat patch but we don't deliver that way. And we run I 70 over Vail Pass in CO when chain law isn't in effect on some of those Cali runs.

    gntorres61 Thanks this.

PTL has treated me real well, although to be fair I have only been here a few months. We don't carry chains, either.

I took a year and a half off after leaving Raider Express, it was just my choice. I am now getting back to the open road. I chose Trans Am because of the equipment and the people I have either met or talked to. I called and spoke with a lady and she was a real straight shooter. I mean till it hurt.

She said to me, you failed at Raider Express and you want to come back to trucking, are you sure? she said, Trans am isn't for everyone. If your looking for an opportunity, it's here. She also said that I've been gone a year and a half, and it's like starting over. She said if I have high expectations, throw it out because I am starting over.

We discussed pay and I told her that it was low and she said, how can I justify with my limited experience and my break, getting top wages? she said here is the bottom line and while I cringed, she said, we run nice equipment, we have fifth wheel release from the tractor. We have automatics, we have prepass and toll tags for running East, Running the DFW area, Sunpass for Florida and the Oklahoma Pike Pass.

She then said, we expect our drivers to run and to work and as long as you do what your supposed to be doing, you will be fine. I asked about the lease and she explained it and said, coming back as I am, I probably don't qualify and that was music to my ears. She said I don't qualify because when I took my year and a half break, I lost any current experience I built up at Raider Express, so I will have to run company driver for a few months, then I can decide if I want to lease.

If someone wants an opportunity, it's up to each of us to decide what we want to do.
