If the company wants to pay, then that's on them. I agree.
I think the issue here is more any fines or points the op would have. -
Guys, he is a federal employee, the rules are totally different, once he puts the paperwork in,aside from talking to the Fed lawyer,he will never have to deal with this again. It won't go against his record and HE will never go to court on it.that's what the fed lawyer is there for.His boss is still a clown though. He will have no points,no fines,no court costs, nothing.

I wonder what the pay is? Sounds like a sweet gig.

I would bet he is a wage grade 6, MVO [ Motor Vehicle Operator, medium ] around here,it's about $19 or so to start. A Tractor trailer driver is a MVO heavy WG 8 and starts at about $22 an hour

Whoa... That's nice. I might have taken that in a heartbeat if it was available to me at the time...

It would be nice to know where this happened, the intersection so we can see what you are talking about.
I don't think you can sue anyone over this, you still fall under NY's no fault laws which is pretty much the same throughout the country. Even if you are a federal employee, take it as a loss in wages and move on.
ALSO just thinking about it, I always take the outside lane (its the law here that trucks do) when I can or I take up both lanes which really gets people behind me a bit upset. I can tell you that when trucks (especially with trailers) take the inside lane, they swing wide to make the turn, had one the other day that did just that, he swung wide, while I was just a little in front of him and he ran me off into the barrier on the side of the road to avoid hitting him. -
Well, he did say he worked for the government!
Tennesseahawk, Big Don, Mr Ed and 1 other person Thank this. -
As far as this accident goes, unless there was a lot of physical evidence to show exactly where both vehicles were, at time of impact, OR you have witnesses who are willing to hang around and identify themselves, it is pretty much a "he said/he said" situation. As for the beach time, I agree it sucks, but sometimes it is just a part of the job.
What I am having more problems with in this entire thread, than anything else, are the statements made about "you should NOT have been in the "outside" lane." Where the devil does THIS idea come from? In a double turn, whether it is left or right, a big rig ALWAYS has more room to maneuver in the OUTSIDE lane, than in the inside one? What am I missing here? -
I said the same thing myself, I'm not sure at all where others have the idea it's a good thing to use the inside lanes for any turns.Mr Ed Thanks this.
